Well if you traded guys who are expected to be on the O's next year to get JJ, Vazquez, or Zambrano, that deflates the win gain by getting them.

Show me the 2013 payroll for the players we know we'll have and how it can't sustain adding couple guys in the $20M area. Now if your premise is an $80M team salary limit, then we're already off track.

You mis-interpreted my post. I meant that the win gain is less because you're trading guys who would have contributed to the 2010 O's. If you trade Reimold and Arrieta for Johnson, you have to subtract the formers performance from the latter.

I don't know what the salary limit will be.

I'm not saying we can't substain two guys making $35-40 million a year, I'm saying that would likely prohibit much if any other substantial additions, and may make it hard to retain some talent down the line.

Again, bottomline, what I'm advocating isn't that much different in terms of wins for next year compared to what you are. Nowhere near the 15 wins you've been throwing around to others.
