Who would you trade for... Uggla/Cantu?

Roch is saying a second tier starter would get it done. I guess that means a Hernandez or Erbe . . . straight up? I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Ok good, I would do this as well, hopefully our second tier weill better than Boston's and SF's.

What is the upside of Uggla over Wigginton? Just curious.

This is what I was thinking as well. If Wigginton bounces back to his normal 780-800 OPS range, I think I'd rather have him and Erbe/Hernandez than both Wigginton and Uggla, unless MacPhail has a lot of other moves in his head, which wouldn't surprise me.

Better offense and better defense plus not having to hope for a resurgence to previous levels.

I suppose there is a chance that Uggla is worse at 3B defensively than Wigginton. He's not a good defensive 2B, but he's a better 2B than Wigginton is either a 3B or 1B, so I think Uggla will still have the better glove at 3B, although its certainly up for debate.

I wonder where Bundy and Beal would rank on their charts.

Besides guys like Erbe, Drake and Johnson, I don't know what else they could offer that would match up as "second tier"

Our second tier is Hernandez, Erbe, Britton, Johnson and those guys.

The first tier is Matusz, Tillman, Arrieta, Britton, and now Bergesen.

I think that Uggla has a tick more power, and may field a tick better, but is it worth the talent off-load? W/ Uggla's generally mediocre OPS (only one year above .820) I think the odds are we're looking at a .780-.820 guy in Uggla, too. Heck, Uggla's been better at home than away, so no South Beach Discount for playing in Florida.

He walked nearly 100 times this year and still only managed a .354 OBP.

How much better offense? And is it guaranteed to say consistently good?

I'm not all that sure about defense. I do know that Wiggintons SSS numbers at 2B are comparable to last year's Uggla.

I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't trade real talent for Wigginton. And I definitely wouldn't trade real talent for Wigginton if I already had Wigginton.
