Manny Dodging L.A. After '10

I don't think the Dodgers really want Manny.

Not only did he hold them hostage at the beginning of last season, but he also missed a 3rd of the season due to steriods (something I'm sure the club would rather not be associated) and now he's saying this.

If I were a Dodgers' fan, I'd say good riddance. Go be Manny somewhere else.

I'd be inclined to agree, which is why even though he "announced" this today, in a way it's old news. He's just trying to squeeze where he can. I don't think he's going to get many bites going into his age 39 season, even if he has a consistent performance this season. Last season left a very bad taste with many folks, as we're well aware, and he might as well bow out where the spotlight's brightest.

I wonder who they'll try to get to step in after he's gone, now that they don't have Juan Pierre. Is there anybody looking good in their system (I have no idea)? Carl Crawford says he wants to stay in Tampa, if he survives the year without being traded. I recall the MLB Network guys mentioning pinstripes in his future; could the Dodgers be up for a bidding war to prevent it?

Somebody help me out before I dig too big a hole.
