Just saw this kid on MLBN. A hot Mets (mess?) pitching prospect, he's 20 years old, has extremely electric stuff and everyone who has seen him has been raving about him. Harold Reynolds was doing his Harold Reynolds act when they were showing his highlights.

And no one knew who he was in the Dominican when the Mets signed him for $16,000.

Just sayin.

Not only this, but I'm sure the Mets are hoping he bombs in Spring Training so he can have a great year on the mound! FACT!

I heard they're going to move the pitching rubber back to 70'6" when he pitches in ST to stack the deck a little bit.

But he'd be a lot better if they signed him for $1 million, IMO. That's a fact.

16k or $1 mill, the fact is he still is not with the O's :).

I hope that changes soon for other International guys for the O's. Because I sure like to be smiling about those prospects on my team whatever the price is. Instead of being jealous about other teams international prospects.

Again, I am talking about the O's internationally.

He's the Met's #1 rated prospect by Baseball America. As Hoosiers has pointed out, you can find some real bargains in Latin America. Keep in mind though, the Met's #2 prospect (Wilmer Flores) was signed for $750,000 and their #3 prospect (Fernando Martinez) was signed for $1,300,000. If the Mets were confident that they could find great talent for next to nothing, I doubt they'd be spending the big bucks on these other guys. Mejia is a testament to good scouting and luck.

Are you implying something :scratchchinhmm:?

Great post.
