It's scary when his WHIP would be a bad ERA.

Really...thats sort of impressive. I guess.

I hope he can put it together at some point. I think I'm going to go out to his next home start.

Unless you know something I don't, I doubt Penn will be starting any games anytime soon.

You're right...shows how much I follow the local team.

If I was in the O's FO I'd sign Penn, and then send him to the minors for one on one instruction in either the submarine pitch or knuckler. The guy's got all the physical tools necessary to be a professional pitcher, he just lacks that last piece of the puzzle to get batters out. If he doesn't change his approach to the game in a big way he'll be selling insurance by next year.

So... are you really suggesting that a submarine delivery or knuckler is the last piece of the puzzle?

No, what I said was that he needed to fundamentally change his approach to pitching. Penn's gone as far as he can with his physical gifts, and he's been a failure. If he can transition his game to throwing the knuckle ball, or pitching submarine style with any type of command he'll have a much better chance of taking the next step that has so far eluded him.

What's he got to lose at this point?
