Oh come on guys. He left Millwood and Matusz in last weekend and both of them gave up the lead late. When a pitcher is done, he is done. Guthrie had been giving up fairly long fly balls for two innings. It had been a stressful, close game. Bringing the lefty specialist in there when he had 99 pitches was an obvious move. It wasn't overmanaging at all.

I agree, it was the right move. Barton worked Guthrie all day and is generally a patient hitter, so bringing in a fresh arm was smart. Also, play out the scenario, if Barton gets on you're going to bring in Ohman to face Sweeney anyway. So just go get Ohman one batter earlier to have him face two lefties.

Trembley asked Ohman to do his job, and with zero pressure at all. No inherited runners. Blame Ohman for not throwing strikes.

Would you have gone with Albers in that situation after Ohman struggled?
