Its nice to see him go that deep with the limited pitch count, he probably could've gone 8 innings under normal circumstances. Also had an 8-8 GO/AO, but only one strikeout says to me that he still doesn't have his stuff back.

The outstanding question is what was his velocity and was he able to throw quality pitches in the early innings. That is why he was sent down.

Tillman seems to be in 'tweener status right now. AAA is easy for him to dominate, but he's not quite ready for MLB.

I didn't really mean tonight. I agree with you. But his ERA there was 2.70 last year and 2.97 this year. He seems capable of getting AAA batters out pretty consistently. That's all I meant. The issue, as I said, is he still needs to do some other things to get major league hitters out.

I was at the game and the ballpark gun had him mostly at 89-91. But he did hit a few 93's. Breaking stuff looked really sharp though.

90-94 is where I'd want to see him. Last season, he averaged around 92 MPH according to PitchFX.

Regardless, my standards or anyone's standards, they are not the main issue. His fastball last night according to you was what we saw from him last year for the most part, though he had a few games where he touched the 94-95 range. His issue is command, more or less he just needs to keep it out of the top half of the zone. His 8-8 GO/AO ratio sounds somewhat encouraging for that aspect. After hearing the whole story, to me it sounds like this was an encouraging start except for the lack of K's..

Until Tillman starts to keep his fastballs low in the strikezone, he needs to stay down there. In AAA, he blows his fastball high up in the zone by the hitters but in the Majors, that results in homeruns. Until he realizes this, he needs to stay in AAA.

I wish the team would just leave Tillman and BB down until September. There is obviously something wrong with both of them and going down for one start and thinking everything is ok is ridiculous. BB shouldn't have been called up. This is twice now, you would think the front office would see what we all see.

I don't necessarily disagree, but then who's your fifth starter in Baltimore?

I could care less about our fifth starter. AM should be able to go find someone to throw in there. These young guys need to get right if we are ever going to have a chance and Norfolk is the place for them to get right.
