I had a 2" caliber spud gun that could put a potato in the water from 700 feet. But you had to get your angle right... and you had to use "White Rain Super Hold". Other brands of hair spray didn't go as far.

ps: Even if you used "White Rain Super Hold", if you didn't get the angle right your potatoes landed on the beach. Then you could watch people going down the beach, looking for shells but picking up potatoes. You could see them wondering, "WTF? Why are potatoes all over the beach?"
