Besides the obvious Hendrickson/Albers/Mata avenues, shouldnt we be trading Ohman soon? GS could come back in Ohman's role.... Koji is another interesting bit of trade bait (provided we pay almost all of his salary).

If Sherrill is available, why would a team trade for Ohman? But on the flip side nobody has mentioned how AM traded a reliever last year for a potential 3B of the future for us; and the reliever is now released. Seems like a good trade in retrospect, Right?

That would be crazy. Something has to be seriously wrong with Sherrill to have numbers like he has.

Yeah, this is a case where you would want to have your scouts watching him to know what the problem is. Too bad all of ours are in Nebraska looking in haystacks.:D

I was going to say how this is finally one of those trades that goes in our favor.

I wouldn't be against bringing him back but like Frobby pointed out, the bullpen is majorly crowded with Berken, Hernandez, and Simon locking down positions.

Sherrill will be non-tendered/released at the end of the season by whoever picks him up since no one will pay him more than $1M next year.

Where are we on the waiver claim? It would be a solid move for us to pick him up just to get another LOOGY off the market -since we have a decent one to trade. Ohman's had a solid year and his name keeps popping up on MLBtraderumors. I'm not saying he wil bring much, but he could easily be a piece that makes a trade happen.

I fully agree with your second point!! IMO, Bell will be a solid producer.

Disagree completely. Those three, along with Ohman are the only positions locked down. We lose nothing by saying goodbye to Albers, Mata or Hendrickson. Koji should be due to go back to the DL soon, so we have that too.

Are you kidding? You got to be, right?

Why would anyone trade for Adrian Gonzalez or Prince Fielder when Garrett Atkins is out there, right?

Ohman is having a better year.

They need to take a flier on him. He's gotta pass through the National League first (which he may not) and then O's are first up. Maybe Dodgers weren't using him right? Never seemed to be one for a straight lefty specialist.

And if Ohman does have trade value, having Sherrill on the team makes him more expendable.

FWIW, the last game Sherrill pitched for us he was throwing 90-92 mph fastballs and 73-74 mph curves. In his last few Dodger games he was throwing 88-89 mph fastballs and 77-78 mph sliders (according to pitch f/x).

What I've heard from Dodgers fans is that the pitching coach had Sherrill change his arm slot because they believed his current slot was likely to cause injury and that the change in mechanics is likely what's affecting his pitching.

Unless he is hurt, it sounds like he is a victim of bad mechanics and some bad luck.

Trade Ohman and pick him back up...Why not? Its worth a shot.

BTW, this should be a lesson to those of you that was against trading him. Sell high..especially when they are a generic/dime a dozen type guy.

It will be crowded when Uehara and Gonzalez return, as well as the possible return of Johnson and the emergence of Beato, Bascom, or Egan.

Looking it up, Albers will be arbitration eligible this off-season and will probably command a salary between $800K-$1M so I would be for getting rid of him to save money.

I would like to trade Ohman and just get rid of Uehara.

Why, is it dirty after you stepped into it the first time? Not getting the idiom without knowing the consequence of stepping into water for a second time.

I think its from some Greek philosopher, the idea being that things are constantly changing. As soon as you have stepped into a river, it has irrevocably changed. The water is in new locations, the banks slightly more eroded, etc. Current flat breezy is by definition not the flat breezy we cheered for 1.5 years ago.
