Hamilton: MVP?

With Hamilton getting hurt this weekend and most likely will miss a good amount of time, has he done enough to earn the AL MVP?

Not in my opinion. He was having a fantastic season, but so is Miguel Cabrera. Hamilton finishing his campaign at only 130 games certainly should give the edge to MCab.

Even though he carried his team to win their division while Cabrera's team hovers around .500?

It's a good debate. Cabrera's having an outstanding season. I guess Cano and Konerko could be in the discussion too, but I think they'd be distant to Cabrera and Hamilton.

Cabrera carried his team even more than Hamilton carried the Rangers. (Better OPS, more RBI.) Hamilton just has better teammates. That, plus Hamilton's season ending prematurely, answers the question for me. But I guess some people do consider MVP a "best player on a playoff team" kind of award... so you never know. For me though: Cabrera.
