Behind a redshirt freshmen, #5 UD defeated #3 James Madison, with three seconds left in the game.

Even though I have been gone for a year now, I didn't realize Delaware was poised to be so good this year.

IIRC, #17 Delaware crushed West Chester to open the season, before crushing #9 South Dakota State 26-3 in the second week. Ranking in the low teens, Delaware crushed Duquense to lead to a key #9 Delaware vs. #7 Richmond last week, which Delaware won without an worries, brining about the key match-up of JMU (who beat #13 BSC Virginia Tech last week). Devlin, who missed the Duquense game because of a fracture in his arm, left after the second drive today with a concussion, but UD held on to beat JMU.

Prior to the SDSU win, Delaware had not beaten a Top-10 opponent since Flacco's last season in 2007. Of course, they have had several chances with key matchups again Richmond, JMU, and UMass the last few years.

With App State having off, I could see Delaware going into the Top 2 or 3 on Monday, which I think might be their highest ranking in a long long time.

That was such a cheap shot on Devlin, as the JMU defender slung him to the ground seven yards behind the line of scrimmage when Pat had already handed the ball off and wasn't carrying out a fake. How there was no 15 yard penalty is beyond me.

Hats off to Saesek, a redshirt FR, who showed some poise leading them on the winning FG drive. UD's defense is flat out nasty this year, having allowed 3 TD's in 5 games and a scoring defense of 6.5 ppg. Pierce could be something special the next 3 years too.

It amazes me how stacked the CAA is. 5 of the top 10, 6 of the top 12, and 7 of the top 15 are CAA teams.

The CAA is always stacked. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes for schools to move up to the FBS.

Congrats on the win.

If Saesk can develop into a solid QB, that would be amazing. I would love to see Keeler develop his own QB for once, instead of taking a recruit from a Pennsylvania school.

They definitely need a strong core moving forward as they start to play more Division 1A teams when they go back to the 11 game schedule.

Congrats on the win.

Villanova has been invited to the Big East for a long time now, they just haven't taken them up on the offer.

There is also a rumor that Delaware could get an invite, but having worked with the football team and in the presidents office, there is not going to be any move in the near future as they like being a big fish in the small pond.

Keep in mind that the FBS demands a team have at least a 15,000 seating capacity stadium. Delaware has the biggest stadium in 1AA until James Madison's renovations are complete and Old Dominion's stadium is built. UD has a 22,000, I believe JMU is heading up to 25,000, and ODU will be close to 27,000. Of course, ODU is just getting football back in general so expecting a move up to FBS is unrealistic.

But with Delaware taking on Navy and Maryland in the recent years and with matchups against Navy and Pitt in the future, as well as JMU's matchups with Maryland and VTech, I would like to see UMass go up against BC or BU.

Delaware crushed Maine, to move to 6-0. Jacksonville State is poised to move to 6-0, while App State and Elon are tied, but App State will probably pull out on top, to move to 5-0.

On the flip side, Richmond was shut out by New Hampshire, putting them both at 3 losses on the season.

Way too many drops by UD WR's today, including Crosby who was wiiiide open in the end zone. Pat could have easily thrown for over 400 yards. Otherwise, they played well again.

I didn't have a chance to see the game but I read they played pretty bad.

Delaware gets Rhode Island (2-3, 1-1 CAA) at home next week.

UMass (4-1) and Villanova (3-2) come back from byes, while NH takes on JMU.
