Deserved and not really surprising, though the in-season firings of Joe Kerrigan, Gary Varsho and Matt Walbeck suggested the Pirates' FO were sticking by their guy and liquidating his rivals.

My prediction (not my preference) for next Pirates' mgr: Eric Wedge.

Cross the Diamondbacks off the list. They've taken the "interim" tag off Kirk Gibson and named him their manager for next year.

I don't think there is a manager in the world that could turn around the Pirates. Them and the Mets need to overhaul there whole organization (starting with the owner).
