Yeah, the distributors probably all end up the same anyway. Also, I think it stems from what a client specifies for their concessions.

I was reading that Levy does some of the Disney World restaurants, and I didn't believe it, since almost all the food there is fantastic.

So it may also be a case of getting what you pay for. Yes, that means we are being held out from the really good nachos (better cheese, crunchier and flakier tortilla chips) due to budgetary restrictions set by the facility.[/QUOTE]

That is major issue right there. It's not that there are budgetary restrictions but how greedy the O's/MSA are when it comes to how much they make from concessions revenue. I am a chef and have friends that are chefs at several Aramark Stadium accounts and most of the time the standard account is 18-25% of revenue off the top. At Heinz Field for a Steeler game during the regular season they do about 1.1 million in sales with 20-25% off the top. That's the reason why your hot dogs cost $7 and everything else is sky high. Aramark after payroll costs, food costs, etc. is LUCKY to make 2-3% profit.

That's what it takes to do business. Now OTOH it is Aramark's fault if service is crappy and the food is horrible but they are not the reason it costs alot for food.

I thought about trying the slaw, or the sauerkraut, or some of the other things, but decided they weren't worth the cost vs. the chance at disappointment.

I've never been to the original Attman's (yeah, I know, here's my "Baltimorian" card...), so I'd be curious about the difference in pricing between the two. I'm sure they were higher at Oriole Park, but by how much?

The slaw came with the sandwich at M&T. I wouldn't have paid for it.

Here's Attman's carry out menu: http://www.attmansdeli.com/carryout.php

Exactly. The Orioles (and every other stadium tenant/owner) could set up the food service bidding process in such a way that they pick the winner based on who can provide the best food and service at minimum price to the fans. In other words, the bid could be set up basically backwards: instead of bidding on how high of a cut you'll give the Orioles, the companies would bid on how low their prices would be (while agreeing to a set level of quality).

But the Orioles won't do this and probably no other team does it either. The food services companies are bidding on the ability to act as monopolies and the teams are able to extract very large cuts of that business in return for giving them the opportunity. They could choose to do a different way.

Because that's an additional 1.75 million people potentially available to you without much in the way of additional advertising costs. And if it is a company using your brand and cutting you in on the profits while shouldering the costs of the facilities and staff, even better.

For example, how many people realistically eat at Attman's on Lombard Street every day?

That is how the OPACY marketing would try to sell a local business but everyone around Baltimore knows that the O's have below average attendance which means less revenue. Of course, this all relies on the cost of the entire operation (stand/labor/liquor license) but if I was a business owner in the food industry, my first thought would not be to open a stand in OPACY.

Also, how many people realistically go to OPACY and eat at Attman's?

Where in the hell did JTrea say he knew it to be a fact??? He was SPECULATING. He offered up an idea. It happens here ALL THE TIME only it doesn't always devolve into schoolyard teasing and namecalling like it did in this thread.

If you don't like what he has to say, put him on ignore. If he or anyone else crosses the line by hijacking a thread or trolling it will get moderated.

For the record, I don't think Buck's concerning himself with the concessions at Oriole Park. It's not that much of a stretch, though, to wonder out loud like JTrea did.

He is on ignore and he jacks just about every single thread in this section. If I was to monkeylist the Prophet and SG, there'd be very little here to look at.

And despite his brief period of prefacing everything with IMO, he states everything as fact--nay, as gospel; as revealed truth--no matter how divorced from actual fact it may be.

I did...once. And I won't do it again. I was about as impressed by the sandwich I had there as I was by Boogs BBQ.

My standard fare at the park is a pair of vendor dogs and a jumbo coke. It's bad for me, but the vendor dogs taste good and I don't do it as much as I used to. One of these days, I'm gonna wise up and start packing my ballpark dinners.
