NLCS: Phillies vs. Giants

I'm only starting this now to mention that SRO tickets for Game 1 on Saturday, Lincecum vs. Halladay, are going for $200+ on StubHub.

I bought Steelers-Ravens tickets from a family friend this year. Club level seating, and they were less. Insane.

The Giants can certainly win this series. It's gonna be a good one with all of these pitching match ups.

This has the potential to be a great series, simply based on pitching. But if the Phillies can score runs off Lincecum and Cain, then it's over. The Giants don't have the offense to compete with the Phillies, and that's why I'm picking Philadelphia to make a third straight World Series trip.

Yeah, but the Phillies weren't exactly an offensive juggernaut against the Reds.

With two rotations like these teams have, it could get down to simply who makes the first mistake, or who has to be taken out first, or even to whoever has a bit of bad luck. While a seven-game series isn't as random as a five-game series, it is sill short enough for an inferior team with a big enough strength to defeat the superior team.

The Giants have a chance because of their pitching.

But the bottom line is the Giants offense just isn't all that good.

So, while I expect low scoring games, I think the Phils win the series rather comfortably because of the lack of offense from the Giants.
