Tejada deal up to Angelos

BB, With all the talk about who the Angels are going to give up, what we can expect in return for Hawkins and Rodrigo? I'm guessing not much, but has there been any names mentioned? Is it still Hawkins for Baker? RLo for whoever?

Hmmm...I know they were chirping about Chone Figgins before. And if Tejada takes over at 3B....RUH-ROH!

Oh well, at leats we'd have a guy to hit 2nd.

So....Santana, Figgins, Aybar/Wood, Saunders?

Not too bad I guess.

I thought about Figgins too, but I just can't see them giving up a SP AND a guy who has almost 40 SB's and can play 2B, 3B, SS, LF, RF and CF while their in a playoff race.

Figgins is penciled in as their starting centerfielder. If he goes, who replaces him?

Maybe the 2nd guy is Juan Rivera, he's behind Garrett Anderson & Vlad on their depth chart, they could probably stand to lose a depth guy. I can't see them dumping a starter if their already losing Santana from the rotation.

I thought I read somewhere that said Kendrick is virtually untouchable. I guess we would be asking for Rivera since we are looking for a corner OF. I dont understand why we would want Napoli or Mathis though.

And it must be only me, but Kotchman's numbers aren't exactly inpspiring

The more I think about it, the more positive I am that it's Figgins.

If the rest of the package shaped up as theorized, I wouldn't mind taking Figgins. He's another speedster, has a much better career average than what we're seeing this year, and plays damn near everywhere.

Plus then it wouldn't hurt as much if Patterson walked in the offseason.

Just in case/if/when this doesnt happen::

Lets not all jump down PA's throat. There are equally good arguments on both sides of this issue and this trade has the potential to change the the entire direction of the team for years to come.

This is one decision that will NOT be easy for PA to make

Bigbird-

Is a deal in place with the only road block being Angelos signing off on the deal?

The "we're asking for" part leads me to believe everything hasn't been ironed out.

I love that we're shooting for both Santana and Wood.

He did not say the deal was to Angelos yet. Got to believe we'll milk them for all we can. Add to the fact Texas is also making a run for Tejada puts even more pressure on the Angels.

Interesting, I didn't know Figgins was playing CF for them, I thought he was their 3B. That changes things.

Kotchman is on the DL, but technically is that 25 man roster?

I'd like Rivera too, but I doubt they'd trade one of their starters without a replacement....

Considering the current direction, going on 9 years has SUCKED, its time for something drastic.

That's fine. If he decides to keep Tejada, then he damn well better open up his wallet, big time. Because if we're building around Tejada, then do it and spend the money to actually get talent to come here so we can compete.

Enough of this 4th place bull*@)#

    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
    • Well it certainly doesn't look like he'll be winning Rookie of Year award. And if we send him down for like the tiniest amount of time, we get him for another year, right? I think if this poor hitting continues it's financial mismanagement not to send him back down. Grayson got sent down and came back way better.
    • He certainly isn't a bust but I wasn't happy with the pick at the time and I don't love using the second overall pick for that type of player profile. Westburg signed for slot so he's irrelevant but Mayo was a great use of the money saved.
