He hit 96 on the gun in his final start. His September was really strong and he made the postseason roster. He pitched very well at Camden Yards too. I’m hoping he can build off of some of that success and win a rotation spot out of spring training. -

I would still try to resign Santander. I think he improves the chances of winning a World Series in 2025 more than any other addition the O's could realistically make on the position player side of things. I don't see us getting Soto or Alonso. I think 4 years, 75 million, wouldn't be that crazy. Ages 30-33 seasons. I also think he could play some 1B in the later years of that deal. He might get more, but make him say no to that. -

Assuming we get an established starter to go along with Eflin, GRod, and Kremer, that leaves Suarez, Rogers, and Povich competing for the 5th spot. Suarez has earned the edge. If Suarez is the 5th starter, then one of Roger’s/Povich becomes a swing man in the pen with the other providing depth in Norfolk. Povich has options and I believe Rogers does as well. -
Will note that Stephen Vogt will be a MOY finalist, at minimum, for taking the same roster that retired Francona and doing 16.5 games better, with a division championship and a bye. Will also note that NL MOY finalists will include Mendoza and Schildt, both of whom will get there on the back of taking over high-money, high-talent rosters that failed under the sort of managers many seem to be seeking. Will also also note that the lesson to take from the Warriors replacing Mark Jackson with Steve Kerr probably isn’t the benefit of a hard-nosed disciplinarian who eschews the modern style for old-school tactics. -
That's pretty good for his rookie season, no? I'm a bit confused by the characterization of his peripheral stats not being great. Yep, basically agree with this. With the favorite undoubtedly being Povich, and Rogers / Suárez (bullpen) / McDermott next up when the inevitable injury hits. -
I’m not entertaining the Adley trade ideas but I do like Seattle as a trade partner still. I think Luis Castillo is the guy we could get to give them some financial flexibility. JRod’s salary goes up this year and their other arms are very cheap so if we can absorb Castillo’s contract, it would cost us less prospect/trade capital. This is the type of deal I think we make if we can’t sign Burnes.
