Would you trade Matusz for Justin Upton?

Let's say the DBacks would deal us Justin Upton for Matusz straight up....Would you make that deal if you were are the Orioles?

This thread idea is on the heels of hearing all of our young pitching is on the table for the right player and the DBacks being open to trading Upton, according to what has come out of the meetings.

Upton is signed for 5 more years at about 50 million..he ie 23 y/o.

No. A good young cheap pitcher like Matusz is too hard to find and we already have a solid cadre of outfielders.

Upton is already a 4-5 win player...That is likely BMat's ceiling.

I think I make this deal if this is what it took...I would look to expand it to include Reynolds as well.

BTW, I would try to get Rasmus first and I think he may be worth a little less.

If they give us that trade, you take it. There is more you can get for Upton than for Matusz right now. He is more valuable. You always get the most value that is available. We could then package Pie or Jones or move them for more parts individually, or use Upton as part of a three team deal, or even move Markakis. But in any event, Upton is more valuable that Matusz, either in the lineup or as a trade piece.

I voted yes, but I'd really explore a lot of other ways to get it done before pulling the trigger.

That guy is basically a .240 hitter...I suspect Jones will end up somewhere between .280 & .300. Thats a pretty big difference IMO.

I am a HUGE fan of Justin Upton, thinking that he will eventually be a RH Ken Griffey. He is my pick to be maybe the best OF in the game in a few years, but that is an AWFUL lot to give up.

And Upton would be on a very short list of people I would trade Matusz for straight up... so yes I would trade Matusz for Upton.
