It was the summer of 1993. I had taken a class trip down to DC that spring, and I remember passing by Baltimore on I-95 and seeing the lights of OPACY. Our leader pointed it out to us that it was the Baltimore Orioles stadium. Later I was just browsing through a sports store in the Potomac Mills mall and spotted an Orioles hat and liked it right away. Another kid told me that was the hat of the Orioles so I decided to pick it up as a souvenir.
I hadn't followed baseball at all before this, but I decided to start looking at the box scores in the paper that summer to see how the Orioles were doing. Before long I was checking everyday and especially on the weekend when they printed all the stats for the players. I grew to become a fan of the team that summer and will continue to be one for life.

Hardly. I make one mistake and you jump on it. Bravo. :clap3:
Just making sure you haven't switched deities. As you know the almighty Wieters sees all...

The Switch-Hitting Jesus had 3 hits
Uh so you are worshiping Tatum now? Wieters didn't play according to the boxscore...

I'm sick of all this Ravens coverage that is in the Sun instead of Orioles coverage.
I'll be glad when it is over so the Sun can get back to the team that I'd rather hear about...
It's been too long without hot stove news and I know there won't be much before 2010. January can't get here fast enough...

The self appointed message board QC officers (and I'm not talking OH staff mind you) on here are starting to become the very thing they are trying to prevent.

Boo to Poison Ivy.
Not a Drew, Alyssa or Jaime fan?

Tex is his nickname, and pretty much was a result of both his name, and the fact he played for the Rangers...

Diet Coke with Lemon was pretty good, same with Pepsi Twist. Now they are nowhere to be found...
Is Yankee/Red Sox Hegemony coming to an end?
in Orioles Talk

No it's not.
Let's not forget the Sox were 1 game away from the playoffs, and while the Yankees were out in the first round, they still won 97 games and the AL East despite down seasons from a lot of their key players.
NESN isn't going away, YES isn't going away and those teams will still have money pumped into them.
And the Red Sox still are pouring money into scouting and development, as are the Yankees. So while this seems like a victory, both teams will be back in the playoff picture, if not the playoffs next season.
And the Jays and Rays are still lurking, with the Jays rising to power and the Rays somehow finding a way to cling onto what they've got due to their rotation and defense.
