  1. The next couple of days will answer that. I'm inclined to believe what we have hit it w/the 10 games over. I'd be satisfied w/.500  the rest of the year, particularly w/the schedule we face. However, a complete fold w/show hat the team has a lot longer way to go than we hoped. I hope that isn't the case.

  2. I see Mountcastle seems to have slipped and nobody loves him. Trade him for...whatever. Problem is, other teams can see what's going on, too. They don't love him either and you're not gonna get anything in return. Last year, he was one of the best young sluggers in the game. I don't know what's happened to him. But I wouldn't want him dumped over the off-season for a couple of Dominican 17 year-olds or a pair of grade C pitching prospects.

  3. He had a phenomenal ability to hit w/MOB his first two years

    RISP 1960: BA . .377  SLUG: .660  OPS: 1.164

    RISP 1961: BA, .370   SLUG: .874 (!)  OPS: 1.371

And to think we got him from the Dodgers in a trade for Willie Miranda, perhaps the weakest-hitting starting infielder we've ever had.

But after that, they caught up w/him and he tailed off dramatically, never hitting more than .251. Never understood what happened there.

  4. I can't believe how well the starting pitching has held up. They kept us in games both yesterday and today, but the offense was not there. And the pitchers we faced were only so-so. Right now, hitting is the big problem with this team not pitching. And while I'd love them to fly off and leave Odor any place but where they're going, most of the rest of the lineup isn't doing squat, either.

  5. If they want a contending rotation, I see the Orioles having to bring in at least 1 and possibly 2 starters in from the outside, either thru FA or trade. While their starters are holding up now, I just don't see that much of next year's rotation coming from in-house if they want to contend.. Will all of Bradish, Kremer Wells, Watkins and Lyles provide the kind of pitching we'll need? I doubt it. Will even three hold up to that level? I don't know. I hope Grayson Rodriguez becomes an anchor at some point next year. Hall has a good way to go w/his control; I don't know about him. I think we need to bring in two strong candidates from the outside to provide a larger pool to draw from.

  6. Maybe. But in any event Bedard has definitly regressed. Then again, the prospect of he, Chen and Halama coming out of the bullpen mite spur the starters to go deep enough that Ray can bail them out. In which case, those three might start racking up "scares" if not wins or saves.
