My dad, now 78, was a printer at French/Bray Printing Company. They had contracts with  both the O's and Baltimore Colts. Almost anything printed for the O's, my dad was probably the guy that printed it. He's the one that printed those Norman Rockwell posters of Brooks at the wall signing autographs. My dad would make sure that he'd grab one or more of whatever he printed to bring home to me and also my brother. I have Orioles Media Guides from 1978 to the early 90's from my dad, too. Brooks and other O's/Colts would go to French/Bray in Glen Burnie from time to time as well for something big that they were printing and this was one of those instances. Brooks signed that poster for me and was the nicest guy. My office is currently in Owings Mills and it wasn't uncommon around lunchtime to see Brooks at the local Safeway or close by businesses after getting done a morning round of golf and he'd happily stop and shake hands with fans who wanted to say hello, get an autograph or tell a story.

Will he hang around for the next 5 - 10 years as that extra outfielder/defensive replacement? Kinda like the backup qb in the NFL, might be one of the most lucrative jobs to have as far as compensation vs workload. Happy if this is the case.

I thought that Means was a really good pitcher. I may be selling him short? Is he the most "promising" pitcher the O's have had since Eric Bedard? The kind of guy that if things went right could be the next Mussina or Palmer?

I loved the outfield of Brady, Finley and Devereaux. Wished they could have played together for years. Would love to see a successful run of Hays, Mullen’s and Hjerstad!

[Future of the Hangout]

It's best to keep the site open, as is. I am definitely on one side of the issue but have never brought politics into any discussion. I think Weams and other moderators have done an excellent job of keeping discussions to baseball and away from politics and religion. As with probably most people on this board, I am also a Ravens fan and would love a similar "Ravens Hangout" website and the best I have seen is Russell Street Report. However, there is a ton of language, name calling and worse on that site. Everyone has their political beliefs but I think it has been rare for a discussion to get really political over the last 10+ years I have been on this board.Let's just discuss how bad this O's team is and go from there.
