Why? He went where he went on merit.  Why would he ask for more?  Because he can?   Slot is fair under this system.

Slot is fair under this system? What? Then why do certain players and their agents ask, demand and often times get over slot each year for certain players? I'm sure he fell to us at #67 because of his price demands once again this year. Clearly Elias really likes him. It took an extra year but his got his guy. He will get overslot. My guess is a little shy of $2mil.

Don't forget Freshman Pitcher Kevin Abels who the manager tried to pitch the arm off.

129 pitches in the last game, pitched an inning the day prior, pitched over 300 pitches in the last 10 days.

Stuff like this is what I was talking about earlier in the week.

That's who I was responding about in my initial post on Rutschman. I don't believe Abel will be eligible for the draft next year. Abel was drafted by the Padres in the 35th round of the 2017 draft. The Orioles will definitely have a Top 5 pick next year, if not the #1 overall pick and Rutschman will definitely be in the conversation for the Orioles pick next year.

That Kevin Abel kid looks pretty good too.

The player to actually keep a close eye on is the Oregon St freshman catcher Adley Rutschman. He was named the College World Series MVP. He is a switch hitter being favorably compared to Buster Posey (no, not Matt Wieters). He is a stud athlete who also is the place kicker on the Oregon St football team. Many are projecting him to be a Top 5, if not the top overall pick in next year's draft.

Game tying RBI, keeps OSU alive.

Grenier is a BALLER. With his team down to their last strike, Grenier lines a single to left field to drive in the tying run in the top of the 9th against one of the best closers in college BB. Earlier in the game he also laid down a perfect safety squeeze with the bases loaded for a base hit and RBI. The kid can grind!!!!

Just hit a home run against North Carolina!

Plus some outstanding plays at SS. With his team up 7-6 in the top of the ninth, runner on second with no outs, Grenier, lays down a perfect sac bunt to advance the runner to 3rd. (who later scored). Also, in the 8th, he singled and later scored on a double from 1st base to tie the game at 6. The kid is definitely a ball player. I just hope he hits enough to be an every day player.

Xavier Edwards, who is said to have plus range at SS and a strong arm, and devastating speed, went 38.. I think I would have selected Edwards with this pick. Maybe Greiner will prove everyone wrong. I hope so.  It kind of looks like a signability pick, because Edwards apparently wanted 1st round money.

I find it quite troubling to hear from Grenier he didn't even speak to anyone from the Orioles prior to the draft other than a brief conversation with an area scout.  Did they bother to talk to Xavier Edwards? The player (HS SS) taken immediately after Grenier and being compared to Ozzie Smith and Jimmy Rollins. I didn't hear any of those comparisons being made with Gernier. I wonder how many other teams would have chosen Grenier over Edwards? I'm guessing not many, if any.
