  1. I saw it last night. I will never say that I "dislike" a Clint Eastwood movie. I just like him that much.

But a band of nit-wits wrote the story for that movie. It's predictable, stupid, poorly written, you could go on and on. What annoyed me most, among the many things, was that the high school phenom they were scouting looked like he'd be lucky to hold down first base on a Single A high school team. Portly, unathletic kid and scouts are drooling over him? Think Jack Cust, only smaller. Everything out of the kid's mouth is preposterously stupid. Don't go to this movie looking for baseball realism. Which, I wasn't. Just feel lucky to watch Clint hold a broken beer bottle to some creep's throat and thank God for the priviledge, is what I say.

  2. I hadn't bought any cards in probably two years, but yesterday in Pigeon Forge I walked into a real baseball card shop (didn't think they still existed) and picked up a 60s Phil Niekro for $13. It was his second card.

I too wish I hadn't spent so much on the things over the years. I have boxes and boxes piled up, just sitting around taking up space. The ones from the 70s and back sure are cool to look at.

  3. I am so sick of every single "defining moment" commercial. That one kid says, "I love the long ball" in a way that makes me think he's about to make love to the camera. Ugh.

I certainly hope that no self-respecting member of the OH has embarassed themselves with appearing on those ads.

  4. I'm almost ready to stop watching sports altogether so I don't have to hear John Mellancamp sing that awful Chevy truck song. That song is so patronizing, mediocre and a outright attempt to pander for money that I can't believe Mellancamp has slipped so far.

I mean, my rear end could come up with more sophisticated lyrics than "from the East Coast, to the West Coast, to the Dixie Highway back home, this is our country."

  5. My former boss, the then-elected DA, had a habit of using the bathroom two doors down from my office and being very loud when he did ... certain ... tasks. I could hear him. One time I had an attorney in my office discussing a matter, and suddenly we both could hear him.

That's just one small issue of many that I had with him ...
