A couple of questions for you...
1) With a payroll this low and a team this good, why would we be looking to trade away good players to save money? Do you not feel that the cheap approach that we took in the offseason and deadline cost us in this series? Look at what the Rangers added (offseason and deadline) and look at what we did, did that not make any difference to you?
2) What makes you put Westburg in the category with Adley, Gunnar, and Grayson? What about Jordan Westburg's half of a season in the Majors says to you that he is a foundational piece? Were you overly impressed with the numbers he put up?
3) Why do you say "we are poor"? Angelos is RICH. Like BILLIONAIRE rich. He has money not as much as some of the richest owners but do you need that in order to make effective moves of adding to the team. He can most certainly afford to take the payroll up 35- 50 million which is about what it's going to take.
1. Angelos
2. Because it was his rookie year and a ton of guys need more than a half year as a part time players to get their feet under them. He was our minor league POY in this system. That says a lot about his potential.
3. Of course he can afford it but he won't do it. He never does. Last offseason was also an ideal time to add a piece or 2 but here we are. I'll believe it when I see it with him. Our best chance at success under him sadly is to go the way of the Ray's and stack talent and cycle it through every few years.

Doubt we resign any of our FA's
We need a right handed power arm in the BP but other than that well probably run it back with what we have plus Tate.
They'll probably add another Gibson type (maybe a slight upgrade) or just resign him. They'll justify it having Means back for the whole season and Wells in the BP as a backup. I just don't see us spending big this off season.
Figure out the OF.. We'll need to move on soon from Mullins, Hays and Santander due to $$. I can see them moving Santander this off season.. maybe him and another one of Hays and Mullins. May as well see what we have in house and add a few more prospects via trade. Gotta get Kjerstad/Cowser in the lineup with full time ABs soon. Those kids are gonna be special.
I think we'll probably not do much in the IF other than wait on Holliday to arrive and plug him in. We seem pretty set there and having Urias and Mateo coming off the bench is ideal defensively. Wish one of them could hit a bit better but then they'd probably be starting somewhere.
I really feel like we need at least 2 of Adley, Gunnar and Westburg to take the next step and Grayrod as well
With any trades we propose I feel like we should be targeting starting pitching prospects or maybe in the right deal a you get a young 2/3 MLB starter that we control for 2 yrs plus but the $$$ may be too much there
Wish we weren't so poor

Funny how high K low OBP, bad defensive range players with power are not valued very highly by anyone but the Orioles

Wasn't he 6 for 18 before tonight? His average was up to .166? How does 4 strikeouts happen? Vision problem? Seriously! I've mentioned this before. Does he have blurred vision sometimes? It happens to people.
I've wondered this as well. Something just isn't right with him. You just don't fall off as much as he has without there being some outside factor affecting you. Injuries, meds, eyesight? Something is up.

Or he's still young enough to extend probably pretty cheap.
I like this idea.. buy out 2 years of free agency? Offer 5/25ish. Is that in the ballpark?

So does Buck let him run?

Can We Talk About Next Year Now?

I never said he was on the same level. He is just one of the young position players on the roster with at least a fair amount of upside left. If he could have an .800 OPS and play a solid 2B that would be very valuable to this team and would basically make him a top 5-10 2B. He's shown he has a good eye at the plate and good power in the minors that has yet to show in the majors. I'm not sure I understand the negativity towards him. He is a very solid prospect and could definitely be a piece going forward
Regarding the pitching I feel like the approach has been different. We aren't drafting pitching as high as TB has. That being said we have brought Bradish and Grayrod through the system and have fixed Hall as well as further developed half the BP since they've arrived here. I agree that the pitching talent needs to improve but I am not jumping to major conclusions over a 3 game series. We were slumping leading up to it and we just hit the playoffs at a really bad time. I full year of Means will help if he can stay healthy, Grayrod should improve and Bradish is really solid.
