Frustrating loss tonight. I taped the game because I had a youth group event to go to, was going to get back at 9:30 but instead got invited to go see MIIIB and got back at midnight. I turn on the game, getting that feeling that this might be one of those games that we can shut the door at 2-1, but nope, we had to screw the pooch. 4 GIDPs and Matusz wetting the bed at just the right time (he really had it coming, his FB command was woeful)
My frustration with the young pitchers has been mounting. Perhaps them battling mechanical issues every few starts is part of the maturation process, but I just want a guy that paints and changes speeds effectively. Nothing makes me want to curse more than watching Arrieta and Matusz have their FBs go every except where they want them. Eventually it has to stop right? Either it stops or they both contribute nothing to the future and the cavalry officially does get ambushed!
(I do believe in Matusz. His rough start to the year skews his numbers and he was OK tonight, not terrible, but its now two meh starts in a row after I thought he was stepping up)
We need our pitchers to step up if we want to really compete, and it aint really happening! Our starters ERA is 11th in the league, and that cannot stay that way.
