Wait, this wasn't supposed to happen again for the rest of the season after Wednesday.
When the Red Sox took over 1st place, I got an ESPN alert that "Boston had regained the division behind the powerful Papi"
I got no such alert tonight.
-
I just don't get it.
I get that it might become a crutch for very young pitchers, but it should be handed right back to them when they are nearing the majors.
I heard a very sad conversation on a podcast where two analysts lamented Gausman's production. They basically just ended the conversation with "well, we just have to hope he gets traded from Baltimore so he can use that cutter again."

Um guys... we're 2nd in the whole sport.

Ortiz getting suspended in his "farewell tour" combined with the Yankees finishing last in the division would actually trump anything the Orioles did for my baseball happiness.
I wonder what that says about me as a person...

Is wire to wire still in play for the O's?
I don't think so because Toronto was 1-0 coming into Orioles opening day because they played the day before. Then the O's were 1-0 and the Jays were 2-0. Since both teams were sitting 2-0, the Orioles have lead the AL East Standings in % from "wire to wire" so that's something. I'm not sure if they'll count it if it holds up.
-
Yankees lost again. So did the Sux and of course the Jays.
-
The 8 wins club:
WAS 8-1
BAL 8-2
CHC 8-2
CHW 8-2
KC 8-2
Very odd that those 4 geographically placed teams happen to have the best records in baseball.
-
This needs to be split into a 2016 thread.
-
The Orioles pitching has given up the fewest runs in the American League.
...just sayin
-
Glum satisfaction.
So many people were predicting Chen to have this amazing season to the point where I started to ask, "are we talking about the same guy?". I don't wish Chen ill will, but it's satisfying that he's getting lit up.
-
What a bummer. Close to losing Loewen... not quite that bad, but it stings.
-
Theres going to be something of a surprise in the roster moves starting tomorrow.
-
That is all.
I think the clubhouse needed that.
-
I knew this wouldn't be a 50/50 split but I'm surprised just how many posters think that's a good price for Cruz.
-
If given the chance, would you have paid 4y/$57M for Cruz if he came back and asked the Orioles to match?
-
Number of wins has increased each month. Can we get 21 in September?
21-6 would get the O's to 100 wins. The thought crossed my mind last night as well... but what a stretch.
-
It feels just nice and snug to be back at 20 games over .500
-
This one really wasn't a laugher... it was pretty intense and depressing for more than halfway through.
-
How do you feel about Eduardo Rodriguez (a top 5 prospect) for 2 months (not 1 year and 2 months) of Andrew Miller?

He's going to get some big hits against Chen down the stretch.
Thank goodness we don't have too many lefties.
-
We are unlikely to see first place again. It all depends on the offense.
If they continue to struggle it won't be long before we are in last.
If they are an average offense they will fight for first and a playoff spot.
If they hit as well they can, they will spend the majority of the season in first place and win the division fairly comfortably.
Personally, I think we should add Morales. Can never have enough hitting nowadays.
Actually it really depends on health. The health of the other teams in the division and the health of the Orioles.
The healthiest AL East team will make it to the playoffs... and yes I said "team". I think there's little chance a WC team comes from this division... unless, you know... health.
-
It's going to be back-and-forth between the O's and Red Sox all season.
...and Jays... and Rays once they get their pitching back.
Bobby Dickerson

As I said in the game thread, I think Dickerson is a terrific 3rd base coach. Just because he doesn't have a perfect record doesn't mean he's not a great coach. He's very aggressive and it's lead to a lot of runs that most fans don't think about because the ball is way up the line or cut off without a play. Some coaches would have held the runners in those situations, Dickerson sent them to stay aggressive.
I remember some really disappointing 3rd base coaches from the past. We're lucky to have Dickerson.
