  1. I think this is the crux of the problem. :002_sbiggrin:

They are getting very hot-tempered over there. Must be the lack of playoff wins over the last couple of years. :D

Anyways , the laptop battery here only has a 50 min lifespan. And I'm not on "High performance" or anything. Wow...

  2. People who take slightest offense at the most insignificant misspellings makin' me mad.

God forbid you misspell a Colt kicker's name lest the people over on the Yankees fan forum start flaming and bashing you. "Learn to Spell!" "He can't even spell the kicker's name right!"

Usually I spell the important words that convey my ideas across correctly , thanks to Firefox and their red lines. But once you misspell proper nouns , even if you made an effort to spell the character's name and it's understandable who you are talking about , you still get flamed for it. Oy...some people will just find the most minor thing to pick fights about on the internet.

  3. People in my dorm and a neighboring dorm that was across a little stream would sneak into the other dorm and pull the fire alarm. This happened a few times in the middle of the winter, which led to massive snowball fights at 3AM. I slept through a fire alarm once, and nobody came and got me out of my room.

This reminds me of the snowball wars that used to go on in 2003 between the Corps of Cadets and the civilians. Back in the day , I faintly recall some snowball fight between the two factions , so I walked with a crowd of people who went over to the VT Drillfield to participate. I don't actually remember what happened because it was so long ago but I think the Corps of Cadets won. Then people started running into the military dorms to throw snowballs , the administration got upset , and snowball fights were discouraged. I haven't seen a fight since.

  4. Worst thing about living in the dorms has got to be the fire alarms...I still remember people would pull those during the 2003 World Series and 2004 ALCS. One in particular was pulled during Game 7 of the ALCS so I missed out on the 1st inning , not that there was much worthy going on other than a Red Sox blowout. At least those alarms were pulled when people were awake...the ones pulled when people are asleep are the worst.

So today is Voting day , and I live in VA but am a MD resident so I can't vote in any of these local elections they are holding here. Lately they run these ads : Candidate 1 says that Candidate 2 does not support seniors. Then Candidate 2 runs his own ad saying that Candidate 1 is the actual one that does not support seniors. So who supports seniors if both sides are telling me different things?

  5. Worst McDonalds commercial is the one with two people at work arguing over insignificant topics. Whenone of those guys goes "WHAT" in feigned offense , I can't stand that part.

And the Taco Bell "3 rules to live by"...worst part is the music that plays at the end. "Whip it"...

  6. Which one is the Robin Williams one? Other than Bush and Madden, the others are so bad I can barely tell who they're supposed to be.

The Al Pacino one is horrible , his face looks too fat (same with Jack Nicholson)...the Robin Williams one is the one where he is in a Hawaiian shirt , sounds just like him. He was mumbling something about Patch Adams.

  7. Any of the commercials that are repeated endlessly during TBS's coverage of the playoffs. These include but are not limited to : the constant spamming of the Dane Cook MLB Postseason commercials , the DHL "Kenny Lofton" commercials , and the Frank TV commercials. Don't get me wrong , Caliendo is hilarious , it's just that some of those commercials have been shown so many times over the last 2 days that they've gotten old and trite very fast. However , the Robin Williams Frank TV one is hilarious :D

  8. I hate Boston College and Georgia Tech football with a passion...both are average football programs that get TONS of love from the media. BC is ranked 7 / 6 in the country even after beating 4 unranked , below-average teams and a so-so Georgia Tech team (and keep in mind Georgia Tech is also a crap team with one talented player by the name of Choice). And when you see teams like USF and Kentucky that actually , you know , beat good teams , it makes me even madder. (USF beat WVU , and Kentucky beat Louisville.)

Funny how a VT fan can hate BC and GT much more than Miami.

And Family Guy is losing its humor , this episode really isn't funny.

  9. 2 words :

    Dumb Orioles

Ever since Trembley was extended for next season they still haven't won a game , and I'm having flashbacks of the infamous , repeated bullpen blowups against teams the Orioles really should have beaten (didn't the Washington Nationals sweep the Birds at Camden?) I see no signs at all that indicate more 9-game losing streaks and poor play will disappear next season...

  10. Holiday Inn...that commercial is hilarious , as is the Cal one.

ESPN MNF commercials with people humming may be one of the worst I've ever seen. I've ranted about it before , probably in this same thread , but those commercials act like Monday is the greatest day of the week. Wouldn't the greatest day of the week be the day with the most games?

  11. Good for Barry breaking the home run record and all , but I can't sleep mainly because it's 88 degrees in here and the AC is broke , plus I'm excited about a historical event taking place , even though it was by a cheater. I won't get much sleep tonight...and later today I just hope I can get lease negotiations for my new place completed so I don't end up living in a car today :(

  12. One of my favorite broadcasters was ex-Ravens radio play-by-play man Scott Garceau. Garceau was one of the first football broadcasters I grew up listening to , the other being Frank Herzog. When WBAL took over Ravens Radio last year and replaced "Scott and Tom" with company man Gerry Sandusky , I was absolutely livid. I don't have the same passion about the Ravens anymore now that Garceau and Matte no longer do radio...bring them back :(

  13. I have no idea how to parallel park at all , it's been over 4 years since the exam. The thing was , the whole DMV thing was difficult from the start. The first time I went to try to get a permit I didn't even get past the eye test for some reason. After I came back , I failed the computer test to get the permit , and had to try the 2nd time , which I barely passed (as I recall if you get more than 3 or 4 wrong you fail?). A few months later I tried to get my license and failed basically because of that damn Parallel park. Somehow I managed to pass the exam the 2nd time despite not parking correctly. I have not had to parallel park since.

In the event that I would have to , I would likely go Seinfeld and turn into the spot instead of backing up. There was once an episode where they debated an entire day on whether you should drive into the spot , or back into the spot. One of the best episodes ever , didn't they all miss a fight on TV because they were arguing the semantics of parking?

George: Alright, now you're gonna see some parallel parking. (spitting into

his hands and rubbing them together) How I wish you could make a living

parallel parking. (turning around in his seat) It's all geometry, knowing all

the angles, when to make that first turn and then when to swing it back in,

    that's the key.

  14. My 17-year-old brother passed his driver's test today.

Y'all are going to have a LOT more traffic rants until he goes to college in August. :D

I'm only half-kidding, BTW. I have no idea how he passed. He can't drive. He pumps the accelerator constantly and is always shaking the wheel and NEVER pays attention to what's going on around him. Riding with him requires Valium and Dramamine.

Heck , I can't parallel park either yet MD gave me a license. However , I do have a sensational sense of direction. I don't get lost ;)

  15. I notice a lot of conversation about traffic so I might as well weigh in. On the rare times that I do drive on the interstate I drive 65 or 70 mph. I hear horror stories of the man coming after you if you dare to drive 15 mph over the speed limit and I am very paranoid so I don't ever ever speed on Interstates. I assume the other drivers disapprove of this , since the ones behind me seem to cross to the other lane , pass by , and get in my lane.

Ever since my car accident I have been extremely paranoid when driving...I can't have another accident happen again , one is enough.

And to rant on something legitimate how do the O's lose 3 straight to the Nats? We better win the rest of the games to make up for all the games we fell behind by. Damn O's...

  16. Curses on ESPN Radio "Triple X" radio 730 in DC , can't even receive this obscure station at night because its signal is so weak. At night time , it's like there is no ESPN radio affiliate in Washington DC , because none of their advertised radio stations (94.3 / 92.7 / 730 AM "all over DC") work at all once the sun goes down (and even in the mornings when I drive around I can barely pick up 94.3 FM!).

What angers me even more is that they won't even stream what I want to hear (the NBA eastern conf finals) online on their website. Listen , I understand lawyers don't want that content streamed on the internet , but don't they understand I can't listen on my radio either and I live in DC? And finally , Triple X is the new home of VT football , George Mason basketball , the MLB on ESPN , the NBA on ESPN , the BCS on ESPN , and so on. I wish ESPN was still on 980 , at least you could pick up that signal for miles and miles away from DC.

  17. The Major League DirectTV commercial. Only because in the "new shot footage" they have a guy playing first base. They gave him the same "vintage" late 80s Indian uni as Sheen, but he's wearing black socks jacked up. As much as I love that look, they wore stirrups back then. What a doofy oversight.

the guy who did the play by play annoys me when that commercial is on. If it's Bob Uecker , I apologize.

You can add every commercial MASN repeats every 2 commercial breaks to the list. I've only had MASN for a week and they broadcast the same "Omazing Moment" commercial , the Maryland Lottery commercial with "you-know-who" , and the Verizon commercials over and over again to the point that it just becomes annoying. Please have some more variety , or have more than 3 "Omazing Moments" or else I may have to mute the entire game and miss out on Thorne's play by play!

  18. Those SportsCenter ones are great. I loved the one with Tiger and the gallery following him through the office. But my favorite has to be the one where one of the anchors asks Roger Federer where he would rank.

    Anchor: C'mon, Roger -- 1 through 10, where am I?

Federer: I'm not sure you'd be in the Top 10.

Anchor: I'm in the Top 10, Roger.

my favorite is the Sharapova one when the anchor is holding a seat for someone else , and then Sharapova asks if the seat is taken. The look on Stewart Scott's face as he passes by and finds out someone else is in his seat is priceless!

    :D

  19. Many of the commercials ESPN has anger me , but especially the 2 I stated above. The one that confuses me is the PBA one(Sundays are for bowling? Sundays are for football!).

ESPN has good NASCAR commercials though , and the Sportscenter ones are always classic. Carmelo and the headband...

  20. don't know if this has been brought up before , but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been annoyed by ESPN's Monday Night football promos. "Is it Monday yet?". They act like Monday's game is the most important thing of the week despite the fact that all the other good games that week were already played the day before. Like I'm supposed to get hyped up for a sub-par matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Oakland Raiders on "Monday Night" which according to ESPN commercials is the most special day of the week?

Same for "ESPN MLS"..."You like this game , you just don't know it". No. I don't like soccer , and stop telling me I do.

  21. several things pissing me off today :

    1) MASN - Dish...angry that I live in the Orioles region yet can't pick up Orioles games

    2) damn roommates putting up TV so loud...this really really pisses me off and actually brought tension to a boil today as me and my roommate were actually face to face arguing about the TV being so loud. It is a conflict I have had with almost every one of my college roommates , for some reason they feel the need to be rude and blast their crap loudly. I can't wait to graduate college and be rid of the annoying pest known as a roommate once and for all.
