Well heck, I've been saying Akin is not a nugget for a long time.

Did the O's get a trophy for going 12-12 last July?
Probably. You kids and your trophies.

I could have swore that the O's had the 3rd best OPS in the AL 3 hours ago. Either I misread it or it changed.
I said it was fifth best last night and this morning it’s sixth.

Yes, through the equivalent of one month of games where about half the lineup is hitting 200 points over established career marks. Any projection going forward wouldn't be particularly close to fifth best.
They don’t give out awards to “hypothetically better“ teams.

Sometimes it's hard to know if you're serious, or you're just putting us on. The idea that the O's offense as currently constructed is the 3rd best in the league is fanciful nonsense.
Fifth best according to fangraphs
EDIT: overnight it changed to sixth best

That's like ignoring your A1C numbers because why complicate eating a Twinkie?

Wieters 2.0 Severino .6
Walker .6 Nunez .6
Schoop 6.1 Alberto 1.7
Turner 20.0 Ruiz .6
Machado 32.0 Valaika .6
Yaz .6 Mountcastle .6
Nick 2.0 Mullins .6
Villar 8.2 Santander .6
Cruz 12.0 Sisco .6
If we're just looking at lineup salary, there's 13x advantage there. Could be why we didn't keep all those guys.

It would appear that Zach Plesac has worn out his welcome in Cleveland. It is my understanding that Clevinger has been remorseful and sincere with his apology, but Plesac “doesn’t get it”. Plesac filmed his half-apology for social media while driving a car, explaining that he does care about the safety others.
Adam Plutko and Olly Perez have been outspoken as club leaders that they would opt out of the season if action was not taken against Plesac and Clevinger for going out on the town during a series against the White Sox.
Cleveland took disciplinary action by optioning both pitchers to the alternate training site. The Indians could certainly use Plesac on the mound, but the action has the added effect of stalling Plesac’s service clock, putting a rare positive spin on the club decision to manipulate service time.
Tonight’s tweet is the first inkling that the Indians might be done with Plesac, and the locker room dynamic irreparable.

He needed those last two months in AAA to fully refine his game.
I definitely didn’t need the green text for this one.

I think that Santander would not have the value to bring back prospects commensurate with his reevaluated upside. I believe that both Clevinger and Plesac have momentarily diminished their values.
Again, we aren't talking about bringing back prospects.

Every player has a value. If a team offers what we think Santander is worth in prospects, I would think we should seriously consider it. Given that we just drafted Kjerstad, if we could convert Santander into a top SS or SP or 3B prospect, I would give that a long look.
We are talking about trading Santander and Oriole prospects for Mike Clevinger.

He has 2 and maybe 3 years of service time left. You can win in that window and TOR starters don’t grow on trees.
Why not just keep Santander and the prospects then?

Would be great to use Santander as a centerpiece in a Clevinger deal.
Wrong way. We are not buyers.

MLB does not allow draft picks to be traded.
They can if they've already been picked.

Elias will only pull the trigger if it is the only way to secure a top draft pick.
If by this comment you mean it looks like the Orioles are winning too much and will jettison Santander to lose more games, I disagree.
If you mean the Orioles will trade him for a first round draft pick, then yeah I can see that.

By my count, the Orioles have exactly 100 homegrown international players in their system right now; Bencosme is the fifth youngest at 17y & 8m. Francisca is 32nd youngest at about 18y exactly. This would mean that one-third of our system is under 18yo.

Brett Gardner. For a respected, tenured, career Yankee, he’s completely likeable.

Wow, I never thought they’d do it.

A bit full up on DH types I think.
