  1. Certainly agree on needing a high leverage BP arm or two as well, but that’s beside the point. If (big if) Skubal is legitimately obtainable, I’d be willing to part with one of the big three, all I’m saying. A Burnes - Skubal - GRod trio to go along with our offense would be ideal for October.

  2. If Skubal is truly on the table, I’m definitely of the mindset to give up one of the big three as a trade centerpiece. For me, that’s Holliday given the potential of Mayo slotting at 3B and Westy moving back to 2B. Skubal is exactly what we need to go win a WS this year.

  3. We’re headed down for the early bird happy hour and the outlook looks way better than it did earlier this week. I don’t even think there will be a delay.

    LGO!

  4. I picked Adley simply because he was here first, he seems like the most realistic shot at an extension, and he’s the heart and soul of the team.

Gunnar is the more elite talent, for sure, but are they going to top BWJ’s deal? Of course there is no real frame of reference for how the new ownership group will spend, but I’d be floored if they topped 11/288. Burnes has made it pretty clear that he wants to hit FA and it ultimately feels like he’ll end up back on the west coast.

MASN is literally the only reason I still have Xfinity. If they lose that then I’m done and probably going to YouTubeTV and will have to buy MLB extra innings with VPN.

Same here, well, MASN and the Golf Channel. If they drop MASN then I’m out in terms of cable (would still need their internet unfortunately) and would look to go MLB as well. Needless to say, I am really hoping an agreement can be made.

  6. Absolutely thrilled because more than anything it’s Elias and the Orioles finally making a big boy move. It’s telling the rest of MLB we’re all in. Liftoff, if you will.

Definitely hurts to lose Hall and Ortiz, but you’ve got to pay to play. I’m happy Ortiz will get a real shot to play and I hope he thrives. But even with the trade the Birds still have the best farm system in baseball, and now a legit ace to boot.

  7. I too can't wait to go today. Went to a bunch of playoff games in 2012 and 2014, and there's really nothing better than a packed, energetic Yard.

Taking my two young boys this time around and very excited for them to get a taste of the postseason buzz.

How many people would you say were there?   From your pictures, I’d say 2-5,000.

3-4k sounds about right. We got there right as the lots opened, so it was great to park so close in Lot A. We were also one of the first ones in when they opened Gate E, and by then the line to get in stretched all the way around home plate plaza.

  9. I went down with my youngest son and had a great time, although he was hoping to catch a ball. The weather was absolutely perfect. Very cool to see the team warm up and practice in a relaxed setting. Adley, Gunnar and Tony got the biggest cheers by far, and Elias stopped by, too. Bravo to the O’s for organizing.

  10. I successfully landed 4 tickets to ALDS2 and ALCS1. 300 section for both, but no complaints, I’m in the door. Ticket buying process was a breeze once I got past the holding queue. Shocked how easy and smooth it went, honestly.

Guessing I could’ve gotten better seats had I only requested 2 seats, but my two young boys are going to be so thrilled. The 2012 and 2014 postseason games were so much fun, and I can’t wait for them to have a similar experience. Fingers crossed these two games will end up being day games with school the next day, but if not, they’ll just have to go in a little tired. Just need the Birds to win the East and make it to the ALCS!

You are correct about the Saturday night against Pitt last year. It was a concert and I think some old rapper or something. It was also when we were playing well.

It was also the 30th anniversary of Camden Yards game with throwback pricing. One of the best crowds I’ve experienced.

After several years in the works, the National's all-star Grateful Dead tribute was finally announced last week. Day of the Dead, a 59-track, six-hour box set, is out May 20 via 4AD. It'll benefit Red Hot, the not-for-profit HIV/AIDS organization. Today, a clutch of covers from the record have been released, including takes by the National ("Morning Dew"), Courtney Barnett ("New Speedway Boogie"), the War on Drugs ("Touch of Grey"), Phosphorescent, Jenny Lewis and Friends ("Sugaree") and Bruce Hornsby with DeYarmond Edison, a group featuring Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and the band Megafaun, who cover "Black Muddy River."
