  1. As long as there is no salary cap, it will never end. Other teams can’t just overpay and stash their mistakes on the bench or in the minors.

Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs use this to their advantage and are in the playoffs more often than not...and then you have the Dodgers $100 million bench vs. minor league call ups or rag tag bench veterans for the Brewers.

People outside those cities just aren’t interested in the same old, same old.

MLB needs a salary cap, just like all the other North American professional leagues. They also need a pitch clock.

  2. Every time they look like they are about to be put in their coffin, they pull something lol.

Still in a very, very precarious situation. The Boston sweep means they have to sweep Arizona now AND steal 2 more games than what they would normally need next week on the road.

It's going to be tough. Maybe the Yankees are out by then and are 100% focused on vacation planning.

It's going to be very tough, that's the unfortunate part of the Boston sweep. It's not so much the division, they just needed 2 games from that series to maintain standing as WC favorite

  3. Big win! Every time it looks bleak, they find a way. 1 more W in this series and not only would it be impressive but it would save road trip. A sweep (which would be miraculous IMO) and Oakland debacle won't even be remembered

  4. 93 wins took the AL east all of once in the last 15 years......last year when Toronto won 93.

95-97 wins has won it 9 out of the last 11 years. The only exceptions being the aforementioned Blue Jays of 2015, and the Yankees of 2009 who did it with 103 wins.

Interesting and good stats, but I just don't see the W total getting there this season. You have too many head to head in a 3 horse race. In the past it's generally been a 1 horse or 2 horse race if I'm remembering correctly.

  5. When Boston took over 1st place, ESPN was so embarrassing. Sportcenter felt like the Red Sox post game show. I just changed channel.

Heard their ratings are low, wonder why! Maybe stop shoving Red Sox to the country.

  6. I've said it before but EVERY time this team has a test they pass it. Road trips, tough pitchers you name it they always ace it

No doubt! I watch a lot of baseball and I appreciate the buck Orioles so much because there is no quit. All heart, character and ability to grind games especially through adversity. Most teams don't have the fight of the buck Orioles.

Flawed? For sure, but every team is.

  7. A doubleheader sweep of the D-Rays.

    4 wins in a row.

The agony of defeat has turned into the thrill of victory.

Really impressed with doubleheader sweep. Better get this next one before heading out to face the vaunted Padres offense :)

Baseball is funny. SD was historically bad on offense to begin the year, now they hit like an AL East team.
