  1. I was gping to vote for Trey numerous times. 2 times went ok. But the 3rd time I got stuck in the  "are you a robot" thing. Round and round I went to the "click on all scenes that have a bus" then to "click on all scenes that have a traffic light" on and on ad nauseum. Finally escaped and got the vote recorded. Gak! Not doing that again..?

  2. I have a brilliant (??) idea to at least fix our bullpen. Sign one or all of these guys to minor league contracts. None of them have pitched in the majors for at least 2 years. All of them were former starters who were demoted to mop up duty in the bullpen. So each has bullpen experience . Whoever of these guys we sign start them in the pen, in the minors. If any refuse a minor league assignment, release them right away. But my theory is that each will be very glad to get yet another chance.

First clear up roster space by DFAing Straly. Then sign these guys to minor league contracts. Two of them are former Orioles and one (a 2 time Cy Young winner i) s not.  Here they are:

Tim Lincicum. Never been an Oriole . Got demoted to the pen by the Giants a few weeks after having pitched a nohitter. Spent the rest of the season pitching mop up. Also post season, including the World Series. Giant's management let him go; it was the end of his contract. Giant's fans loved him.

Ubaldo Jimenez.  Spent 4 years as an  Oriole never living up to his 4 year contract.  Very inconsistent.  Never could figure it out, no matter how hard he worked. Became the most hated player on the Orioles.  Got demoted to the pen severral times. He even earned a save. Was let go after his contract ended.

Chris Tilllman. Injured his pitching shoulder. Thought it was cured after some time on the disabled (injured) list.  After that he became wild, no pitch command.  Eventually demoted.to mop up. Let go after the season.

So what do we lose after signing at least one of these guys  to a minor league contract?  I know it's nuts but you never know..

  3. You know what he needs to do?  Learn how to bunt along the 3rd base line. This isn't last year's team or teams from the Showalter/Duquette era where all they did was try and hit it out of the park. Davis needs to get with the current time. Bunt the ball, dash down to 1b. Steal 2b. And so forth.

  4. 1I LOVE this team! In some ways, they resemble the Go-Go Sox (white not red) from back in 1959 when I rooted for them back in Chicago where I  grew up. They hit, they run, they steal bases, they pitch. And they even hit home runs once in a while.  They're not going to have 4 game (so far) winning streaks all the time. But they are a hungry team that wants to win.

Since his chances of becoming a top pitcher are zero, I think he’d rather spend time at home and try to work on his hitting.

He could become a decent mop up man. And who knows? Maybe he could become a 2-way player like Shohei Ohtani.

You can't force him to pitch in the winter league.

But we can gently suggest that it's for his own team's good, as it's for his own -- that he should become a top pitcher in the winter league. And if he refuses this fabulous offer, then he can spend next season riding the pine. I may be wrong, but I think he'd rather learn how to be a top pitcher than sit on the bench as spectator.

  7. I'm really getting to like this guy. Dirty uniform , especially in the front, saw him run out a grounder that turned a typically Orioles out into a hit, stole 2nd base, eventually scored. I've been hungry for a long time for baseball like this.

  8. I have to admit that when it was Kevin who was scheduled to pitch this year, I would dread it. But then he was there, sailing through the line up, getting outs.  I  will definitely miss him. But he'll be with some other ex-Orioles . Brad, Darren O'Day, Nick, Flash. He'll have some company.

He was booed relentlessly last night. It really makes me sick. I guess fans can blame him for the results on the field, but boos should be for the opponent, not our own team. Earlier in the day Chris and his wife helped sponsor the Casey Cares walk, and a few hours later he’s booed off the field? It’s disgusting behavior from the home fans and I would like to think we’re above that!

I remember getting angry last year when Os fans were booing Ubaldo Jimenez for the past 4 years.  I always said that when your own players are struggling, that's when they need your support more than ever. Not being booed off the field by their own fans.

I haven't been to an Orioles game this year, so I haven't witnessed home fans booing Chris Davis. But fans should show him a bit of love. I don't believe that he's waking up each morning, telling himself, "I've got my zillions so it doesn't matter if I play crappy today."  He's struggling so he needs our support.

Speaking of Ubaldo,  I noticed that he's still unemployed.  Has he retired or is he still looking for a job? Just curious.

I never booed anyone in sports for any reason. Not even Ubaldo.Booing is temporary hate. I don't like hate.

I agree with you. But about a year or so ago, we had a knockdown, dragged out fight over booing Ubaldo. The mods finally locked the thread.  Ubaldo is gone, fans no longer have him to kick around. So I gather it's now time for CD to be kicked around.
