I found this memoir of a life spiraling into addiction fascinating. I was struck by a few thoughts:
1. It was incredible how she hid her non-stop drinking/drugging from her family, friends and co-workers. I suspect some may have known, but none enough to intervene effectively. If any tried, that was left out of the book.
2. How difficult in today's society it must be for 12-steppers not to "pick up" and relapse.
3. She finally got help at 38. At her age and rate of abuse, I suspect she probably only had a couple of years to live had she not gotten help.

However, I did, on a whim, pick up a book on the New Releases shelf in my library, read the first page, got hooked and read the entire book in a day.
