So let's just say Elias had to make a choice between Martin (who many think has to move off SS and has just average power), slot 4th and 5th round talents vs Kjerstad, Mayo, and Baumler. He gets the left handed power he needed in the lineup (I could see him sandwiched between Rutschman and Mountcastle to give the Orioles and potent 3-4-5 and two high ceiling high schoolers.

If this is the case as the future heart of the order, who do we have in the system as the higher average/obp guys?  I'll admit I was disappointed in us not picking Martin given the painful on-base years we've had.

  2. 61 - I clearly have blocked out a good portion of the 1998-2011 time period from my head.

83% on the reliables one, thogh

When he took the time on MLB Network to address his situation during the Winter Meetings he indicated that the new CBA negotiation was coming up, and he wished his fellow members of the MLBPA the best of luck.

I thought that part of his instagram post stuck out a little, too.  Play nice, there's enough to go around.

I wonder what he thinks might be happening.

  4. NESN was available to stream through PlayStation Vue the last couple of seasons and in the Boston market.  I don't know what the constraints are, but as a stand-alone service or through something like Vue or Sling or whatever, I really hope it becomes available.

  5. I remember when Ray first came up thinking that he would be the anchor to our bullpen that we needed.  He was, for a short time, someone to be excited during those years.  And then it all went down quickly.

Now, I live about five minutes away from his brewery - him and his brother make some good stuff.

I watched more, maybe 25 minutes. There are some thing that match like the switch from black and white to color and when the WWotW shows up and the alarms clatter. Still... you'd have to be really stoned to think this was a big thing methinks. ?

Ha that's why I mentioned once the album starts over and those things still happen that it seems more impressive.  Either way, like you said, worst case is you get to listen to DSOFTM, which is never a bad thing.

Look at Pete, trying to be Jimi. Isn't he cute!

Mitch Mitchell comes close but wishes he was Keith Moon.

Mitch played with John and Eric and the "other" Keith on bass tho... on the Stones' Cirrrr-CUS. :)

Funny, I was having this discussion the other day about top drummers.  I love Mitchell and think he's fantastic.  Nothing wrong w/ coming close to one of the greatest of all time.

I just introduced my almost-6-year-old daughter to Jimi, so I've been listening to him a lot the last couple of weeks.

Dark Side Of The Rainbow... optimized. I've heard this for years. I watched the first ten minutes and don't really see it yet. Probably gets better further in when things get weird. It did sync up perfect when the Wicked Witch (School marm in Kansas...) shows up on screen on her bike. Exactly when Pink burst in all the alarm clocks going off in a clatter. Submitted for your approval...

At the worst it's a FULL soundtrack of Dark Side Of The Moon. ?

Is Dark Side of the Rainbow the same thing as the Dark Side of Oz?  If so, give it more than ten minutes.  When I saw it, I had the same reaction, not really getting what the big deal was.  But when Dorothy opens the door and it goes from black and white to color right as the cash register sound from Money starts, I thought that was pretty cool and when it started to make sense.  But the most impressive thing to me was that the album plays about 2 and a half times, so the "syncing" keeps going even as the album repeats in different parts of the movie.

"The Orioles re-signed Davis to a seven-year, $161 million contract in January 2016, with managing partner Peter Angelos dealing directly with agent Scott Boras to hammer out the final details. Davis receives $17 million in each of the next four seasons with $42 million in deferred money to be paid in 10 installments of $3.5 million annually from July 1, 2023-32 and five installments of $1.4 million from July 1, 2033-37, according to Cot’s Contracts."

I thought it was interesting that Roch mentioned it like this, especially with some of the questions recently around who was leading those negotiations.
