  1. I wasn't sure if I should make this post as I know not all OH members/readers might not be interested in history, much less military history but I thought highly enough of the book to go ahead and recognize excellent work.

The story is about Special Force Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) 574 and their work in supporting Hamid Karzai right up to prior to the surrender of the Taliban in Kandahar. In my personal opinion, Eric Blehm did an excellent job in piecing together various interviews of eyewitnesses and some official documents of events that occured between 11 Sept - 5 Dec 2001.

The book is likely still out in your local book stores in hardback and is also available through Amazon.com

  2. I assume this is where this goes...

I was listening to the FOX coverage of the NYY-LAA game today and I don't remember what announcer made the comment but when one of the Angels infielders made a play that moved from the infield dirt to the outfield grass and ended in bobble, it was (I am paraphrasing here) "due to the fact that Latin players have inherent issues with playing on bad fields..." WHUH??? OK, his point that players from the Carib and LatAm countries normally don't have the benifit of good fields in their native homes is valid but these are pro-players not rookie or A level players and it has likely been some time since they played on a field that wasn't well groomed...to say this was the reason the player mishandled the play seems pretty bold on the part of the broadcaster

I guess I should cut them slack as it's not easy to talk for 2 plus hours and NOT say something asinine in that time period...grrrr
