Agree it’s kinda weird.  He is a great prospect, but honestly I don’t see the upside of a Machado or Harper for example.

To be fair there hasn't been to many prospect in history to have the upside as Machado or Harper.... seems unfair to judge Jackson against the top 1%

Hahaha....yea I don't understand why we would pick a 1/1 if they didn't at least have the upside of Machado or Harper....SMH

  3. The writing has been on the wall, second base is Jackson's to lose so he'll be given every chance to win ROY and a comp pick... Elias loves his draft picks and he's good at it so that pick could be a lot more valuable than a extra year of control.... Plus we have a better chance of signing him to a extension if keep him happy

  4. OPS+100 is average... Mateo and Hays are not comparable....SMH  Hayes is above average with the glove and the bat... #'s don't lie... Cowser's problem is he has looked lost in the outfield and we have Santandar and Kjerstad for RF/DH and other to rotate thru the DH, also Hays is our only right handed everyday caliber outfielder on the roster.... Cowser needs to prove he can handle CF/LF because he needs to beat out McKenna who I believe is out of options...I still think we may see a trade to thin our surplus of outfielders that hit from the left side

  5. As we know the O's won't be spending at the top of the market for starting pitchers so any of the trade candidates listed above would be great options..We also know Elias will be looking for bargains and bounce back candidates in the trade and free agent market...I like Alek Manoah as a good bounceback trade target and they could be interested in Mountcastle considering he tears the cover off the ball in Toronto

I think Adley was fine and we are lucky to have him.  Great leader and teammate.

That being said, being the nature of the position in general?  I don't really think any catcher is worth the first pick in the draft.  The position is too taxing on the body and mind and because of that IMO it really makes a lot of catchers all about the same.  They just kind of morph into the same quality of player.

Ok then let's hope AR morphs into Johnny Bench....lol..You always take the best Baseball player at 1.1 especially when they're head and shoulders above the rest, also you don't have to be a elite athlete to be a elite baseball player

Look, without Gunnar this year, we may not have won the division, but trying to steal second in the ninth, and getting thrown out... was completely on HIM. Getting thrown out crushed us.Im sure Hyde wont throw him under the bus, but Gunnar should NOT have tried to steal second. I do have a feeling though, that Gunnar will be back in this series and do something positive and big...I also think Hicks should sit. He gives us nothing.Id take my chances with Kjerstad. He hits the ball hard...and Hicks, even though hes a veteran, isn't hitting at all..

Looks to me like Gunnar thought the run and hit was on, he did look back at the pitch and Hyde said there was  miscommunication on the play...Hicks either missed the sign or Gunnar read the signs wrong but I don't believe he tried to steal the base outright... I believe they need to change the rules, allow the offense to use the "pitch com" to communicate.. The defense gets a unfair advantage by allowing them to make defensive calls like pitch outs, pickoffs, and throw overs etc. so the offense should be able to use it to call hit and runs, straight steals, bunts etc.

As it turned out, Frazier popped out and Mullins and O'Hearn struck out so all you would have done is wasted Mateo and then made our OF defense worse.

Hindsight is 20/20...SMH....Kjerstad is serviceable in RF and Hicks isn't a Goldglover, however McKenna should be on this roster, a good defensive replacement that can hit left handed pitching should have been a priority over a mop up pitcher like Flaherty or even Kjerstad since we know the Ranger feature left handed starters and has 7 lefties on their roster

I agree with you pulling Bradish and PHing Frazier were bad moves, but I don't think it's fair to say they cost us the game. Giving up three runs to the Rangers should give you a pretty good chance to win.  And Frazier's gotten some big hits.  On Mateo, I'm guessing that the Orioles were not confident about his success stealing second against Heim.

I never said them moves cost us the game, of course they didn't help and like I said the offense didn't bail Hyde out by scoring some runs and help cover up his mistake.... Yes Frazier has gotten some big hits and I've been a big supporter of him but Westburg has gotten a few big hits also with limited chances and had hard contact his first Ab... You bring in Mateo in that situation because of his speed even if your not confident of him stealing a base, he can score on a double, he also puts a lot more pressure on the defense and pitcher

no no and no i hope not

Well I was going with the players that we used most of the season against Left handed starters....use what got us here and treat it like any other game and don't over manage like Hyde did today

  11. I'm on the team that thinks we should have left Bradish in and not pinch hit for Westburg, Also Mateo should have pinch ran for Hick in the bottom of the 7th, therefore he wouldn't have been in the game to miss that run and hit sign in the 9th.... Hyde over managed early that cost us the run that beat us and the offense didn't bail him out....Side note : offense should get to use a communication system... ( no missed signs ) The defense gets a unfair advantage allowing them to call defensive plays on the pitch com and not allowing the offense to do the same

  12. Bradish game 1 starter, Rodrigues game 2, Gibson game 3, Means game 4, all on short leashes with Kremer, Wells, Baumann, Webb, Hall, Coulombe, Cano and Perez in the pen....Henderson, Rutschman, Santander, Mountcastle, O'Hearn, Hays, Mullins, Westburg, Urias, Frazier, Hicks, McKenna, Mateo, McCann

Holy crap man, I'd be careful with that bet. I'm not sure you understand how Elias does things and why it makes very little sense for Holiday to be on the opening day roster in 2024.

I will not say it's impossible, because with the right amount of injuries it's not, but Elias knows he has to pay these guys at some point and not going to want them all coming up at the same time to be paid within a year or two.

With Westburg and Ortiz, he doesn't need Holliday yet and he may want him to work on defense at SS and 2B more in AAA.

    Plus I love crabs! :D

I believe Holliday makes the opening day roster, he was rushed through the minor leagues with a purpose....His left handed bat to ball skills out trumps Westburg or Ortiz as righties at  Camden Yards so yes he's needed to replace Frazier as a left hand hitting middle infielder

I assume they can manipulate the IL to bring him up if need be. Is that not the case?

Yes as long as they were in the org before the trade deadline they are eligible for the playoffs by replacing someone on the IL

Agree and this is why I made the "we can make the playoffs but not win the WS this year" thread.  Our pitchers are just not good enough to carry us through the playoffs AND the WS and win.

This team has a lot of heart and a lot of young talent, and more talent on the way.  But for now?  This year?  We have been playing somewhat over our heads in all facets of the game.

Notice as soon as GH and our bullpen faltered even a little as they have the past 2 weeks?  We start losing.  That is because GH is our one and only true superstar and our pitching is VERY thin.

Gunnar Henderson hasn't faltered at all, he's got a 999 OPS in the last 15 games and a 908 OPS in September....Our pitchers will be just fine after they get 5 days rest at the end of the year before we start the division series

Have mini breaks in late May and late August.  3 days each.  Would extend season less than a week.

The WS is already played to late in the season, it's not a cold weather sport so why play the most important games in November....Expand the roster and play true doubleheaders so they can schedule more off days and have the WS end by the middle of October....

  17. I think they need to expand the roster to 28 and to 30 on doubleheader days and they should also start a couple weeks early and schedule true doubleheaders..... Baseball isn't a cold weather sport so the most important games shouldn't be played in late Oct. and early Nov....  They should also realien the divisions and only have a east and west with 15 teams in each division with a balanced schedule....Less travel and more rivalries

American league = east = Orioles, Nationals, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees, Mets, Pirates, Phillies, Braves, Rays, Marlins, Reds, Guardians, Cubs, White Sox and the west teams would be the National League

I hate to see anyone get hurt but we'll take all the advantage we can get....We just need to play 500 ball and we'll win the division... Tampa would have to win 6 out of 7 to beat us out and I don't see that happening....I think Tampa finishes 99 and 63

You are forgetting the lack of talent part. Even rested, this is dumpster-diving bullpen. You can't hide those in the postseason. Hopefully, they will surprise and play way above their heads.

Yea they s u c k ....SMH.... but there is 24 teams with worse ERA's and only 5 better .... we won't have to face the best bullpen in the playoffs because the Yankees aren't going and we we won't have to face the 2nd or 3rd best bullpen until the world series and the 4th or 5th may not make the playoffs......Think with your brains not your heart....lol......top 6 isn't a dumpster diving bullpen

  20. We just need to weather the storm and find a way to win the division and I believe 500 ball will get it done...17 days in a row is just brutal on the arms but they'll get 5 days rest and be fresh for the playoffs...win the CS in 3 straight and get 3 more days off and then there's enough built in days off to keep the pen fresh
