  1. I have been fairly negative on Elias’ ability to be buyers at the deadline effectively but after reading Rosenthal’s trade proposal and Orioles Twitter trade proposals, I’d rather them do nothing. Pure insanity IMO. I get it is Ohtani but no way in hell am I sending them 4 top prospects for a rental. Are people high? Go get Montgomery from the Cardinals and a couple bp arms.

This is a fair assessment. A few things:

    1. I watched a ton of him in the minors. Despite what the Orioles said on draft day, he’s not a CFer and frequently misplays balls out there, he’s a corner OFer.

2.If he’s a corner OFer, impacts value. Reminder: we passed on Jordan Lawlar for him, defying what pretty much every other org had as a far superior prospect, time will tell.

    3. Not worried he isn’t going to hit, he will be fine, but not a good choice in CF defensively.,

    4. He’s the kinda guy, I’d consider packaging in a trade for the right guy.

    5. If he continues to struggle, do we see Kerjstad?

The Padres and Mets have to be very close to on this list now.  Both lost series this weekend and now are at least 8 games back in the loss column of the top 4 teams in competition for wild card with two more teams in between that.

If DJ Stewart can’t right the ship, all hope is lost.

Can we get him up here instead of trying these other guys that can’t even get hitters out in mop up situations.  Joey was actually pretty good most of the season last year before I think he got worn down and struggled to end season last month  He has pitched pretty well in AAA this season as well and has had decent success in the majors unlike guys like Bazardo, Vespi, Garrett, Gillespie, or whoever else they have tried.

Hopefully they add some better guys either way but until then I ope to see him up here then the other guys that keep failing.

Amen!!! No clue how he cleared waivers but couldn’t agree more.

Because they'd like to win a title this year and trading for Ohtani would increase the chances of that happening.

I’d argue the Orioles goal isn’t to win a championship (see last year’s trade deadline) but to just be competitive every year. Zero chance Orioles sign him (we have locked up ZERO players so far) so not sure what would be worth sending them. I’d give them Hall/Irvin/Akin/Vavra type guys, but they wouldn’t do that is my guess.

Do politicians do complex political calculations of whether to throw out a first pitch?  I doubt it.   They either think it’ll be fun, or they don’t.   I don’t remember going into a voting booth thinking about whether either of the candidates had thrown a first pitch, and/or how well they threw it.

As to Gov. Moore, he also made a trip to Sarasota this spring and threw out the first pitch at a game I attended.

Love it. I was there too! Love Wes Moore!

I'm guessing he was supposed to be shedding payroll... even if it wasn't a lot in the scheme of MLB. That's also why I believe they will not be making any significant additions before the end of the month.

Wow. Why don’t you think that? I think if he stands pat, people will be downright pissed, particularly with D. Tate news.

Where would you place him in relation to Henderson, Ortiz or Westburg? How about Mayo, Holliday or even Prieto? I mean, I understand not liking Irvin, but Hernaiz had nowhere to go in Baltimore.

I’d argue why didn’t he buy while selling last trade deadline. We had a team that had a shot and just needed a bit more offense. Could have gotten a bat and maybe a BP arm (while trading Lopez too) for him. His hand was only forced due to bad preparation/planning/over performance of players (good problem). It’s hard to evaluate anyone under the Angelos regime but he’s a master Scouting Director but a mixed bag with trades/free agents.

Look at it as a good branding opportunity for the development team, building future trade equity with the As, and a great opportunity for a kid who was blocked here.

Interesting. Might be correct or optimistic, but excellent point. I always thought that happened with the Mancini trade, return seemed a tad high.

Voth may be the first of the injured O's pitchers to come back.

Elias said we may see GRod soon.  (not injured)  I am thinking Tuesday.

Oh joy. If I never saw him or Cole Irvin again, I’d be happy. That Irvin trade is horrendous. Hernaiz is 2.5+ years younger than the league and tearing it up, a very clear sign he has superstar potential. Not sure Cole Irvin is the kinda return you should be getting for a player of his caliber.
