  1. Probably because he didn't get there through a normal at bat. He just materialized on second, like an apparition appearing in the light of the full moon, in a haunted cemetery. Or he walked over from the dugout. Whichever.
  2. Believe it or not, the ghost runner is counter-intuitively more beneficial for the away team. Prior to the rule-flip, win expectancy percentage-wise, the home team benefited from a slightly weighted coin flip, about 52-48. Under the ghost runner, it's been close to the same 52-48 weighted coin flip, but it has favored the away team instead.
  3. Not sure if some folks didn't notice, but Tony could very well walk after this season, and Kjerstad is the heir apparent to his role. There guys a little bit further down the depth chart that I'd trade before Kjerstad.
  4. Look at Ramirez. Two tickets in the championship ring drawings this year.
  5. I wouldn't take him off the starter tracks, not even in an emergency.... something else would have to be done first. He just has too much value as a 1/2 in our rotation to waste it in the bullpen.
  6. Really Hyder? You're taking out Suárez at 24 pitches, two outs before the end of an 11-0 game? We're doing this right now? Seriously?
  7. He's not doing great, but I didn't expect him to be for a while. I expected that they'd be having him do a bunch of adjustments, now that they got a sample of how he was being attacked by MLB pitchers.
  8. I don't know why MLB overloads our first couple of months with off days, and then let us have so few the last part of the season. It's been like that the last several years. It's brutal.
  9. Honest question. To you remember a single time that's ever happened? Because I don't think it has.
  10. They won that one, but the Reds don't seem smart about when they strategically call for challenges.
  11. For entire rained out games, yes. To play a single inning at the end of a suspended game? That would be a ridiculous ask
  12. This is the last game of their series. In a cross-divisional match up, there will be two series between them during the year, one in each city. So the Tigers weren't going to be playing in New York (in Yankee Stadium) again this season to resume the game later.
  13. Sucks that Detroit was robbed of their chance to bat in the ninth, but they have to travel to Cleveland to start a series tomorrow. So if the rain delay would have been long enough to severely impede their travel, I could see it being called.
  14. Tony taking an eye test out there at that at bat.
  15. It sounds like the Reds hired Count Dracula to be their public address announcer.
