  1. Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida

The only full version video I have found can be found here.

    ALL 17 MINUTES!

Very rarely have I ever heard the full version played on an FM station, and when they did, it was one of the late at night time deal.

    In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (song) - WIKI

"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" is a seventeen-minute, five-second psychedelic rock song by Iron Butterfly, released on their 1968 album In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, occupying the entire second side of the album. The lyrics are simple, and heard only at the beginning and the end. The track was recorded on Monday, May 27, 1968 at Ultrasonic Studios in Hempstead, Long Island, New York. The recording that is heard on the album was meant to be a soundcheck for engineer Don Casale while the band waited for the arrival of producer Jim Hilton. However, Casale had rolled a recording tape, and when the rehearsal was completed it was agreed that the performance was of sufficient quality that another take wasn't needed. Hilton later remixed the recording at Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles.

In later years, band members claimed that the track was produced by legendary Long Island producer George "Shadow" Morton. Morton subsequently stated in several interviews that he had agreed to do so at the behest of Atlantic Records chief Ahmet Ertegun, but he also revealed that he was struggling with alcoholism at the time and that his actual oversight of the recording was minimal.[citation needed] Neither Casale nor Morton receives credit on the album.

  6. This song always gets to me knowing the back-story on why it was written. I'm not sure how he made through it, I'm not sure I would have. But this is an excellent version of this great ballad.

  8. This version is more along the lines from the Made in Japan album. It's a much, much better version than the studio one from the Machine Head album.

Just some good ole fashion kickin' classic rock...

  10. Pegasus Bridge: June 6, 1944 by Stephen E Ambrose.

Part of the opening sequences for the D-Day landings in Normandy during WWII saw actions by the British 6th Airborne Division near Caen. The object of this action was to prevent German panzers from crossing the bridges and attacking the eastern flank of the British landings at Sword Beach.

On the night of June 5/6 1944, a group of 181 British men glider landed into Normandy to capture the bridge over the Orne River. This book details the training and actions of the men from B and D Companies, 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, a platoon of B Company, Royal Engineers, and men of the Glider Pilot Regiment.

Ambrose's usual meticulous research and story telling makes for a exciting read.

  11. So wait, what would our rotation look like? My understanding was that Chen was supposed to go down, and Penn would replace HIM.

FYI - Bruce Chen can not be sent down without his permission... as a player with more than 5 years of ML experience, he can decline it. Than, the ballclub could keep him on the ML roster or release him, and continue to pay his 2006 salary.

He would than be able to sign on with any other team that would give him a shot.
