I was very impressed by what DD was able to bring back for Machado and Britton.  These trades just seem like salary dumps or making moves for the sake of making moves.  If the value wasn't there, they shouldn't have pulled the trigger.  I think we got fleeced, big time.

Must've been ordered to dump salary.

Seems almost impossible to trade both Schoop and Gausman and not get a single top 100 prospect back. I mean, did we get anything close to top 100?

How are they lousy with offense? They've been in the upper third of MLB offenses for several years. Right now they lead the NL in HRs.

And it'll help that Matt Adams and Mark Reynolds combine to make less than half of Mark Trumbo's salary. Less than a quarter of Davis'.

Bad word choice as it could mean either but I meant they're overloaded with offense and still added good cheap bats. Yet our offseason offensive addition was a guy coming off major injury who quit on his team and then you stick your head in the sand with regard to Davis and when you can shake a tree and a Reynolds/Adams/Cron falls out.

In his last 11 games (9 starts), he’s hitting .100/.100/.133, with 11 strikeouts in 30 PA.    I’d say he looks a bit overmatched.

.215 OBP in 89 major league at-bats and shaky defense. Obligatory he was rushed and he's young, but there's a reason we're about the only team that goes so balls deep in this Rule 5 nonsense. Other teams just spend a few bucks on international talent or y'know trade for players.

  4. "Said Cashner: “I don’t think it’s been difficult. It’s been interesting, it’s been different. I met with Brady back in November and we’ve had dialogue ever since. He’s reached out to me and I’ve reached out to him and I think the communication’s been great throughout the whole process.” "

Yeah, seems this was totally a Brady move.

Jhoulys Chacin went for 2/15.5 to Milwaukee.  I like him better than Cashner as well.

Chacin at home last year: 1.79 ERA

Chacin on the road last year: 6.53 ERA

Just need Cashner to come even remotely close to repeating whatever the hell he did last year.

  6. Not really a Cashner fan and everything about last season screams fluke but I like the structure of the deal. Not a lot of risk if he's awful.

Would also tell him DON'T CHANGE A DAMN THING FROM last year. Whatever he did, it worked. Of course you know Buck will try to drill time to the plate into him and we'll do whatever other tweaks we try to do on starters ..

Jaime Garcia only got 1/10 from Toronto. Would've been all over him at that price.
