  1. A link (name only) from The Prodigy reminded me of this
    ! A stone groove from '72!

It's actually called "Outa-Space". Idiot forgot to look at his 45 before posting... It's WEARY, NOT WOOLY! Women don't get wooly, they get weary! GOD I hate when they get the lyrics wrong!

    1972's version of Mozart.

  2. :)

    HA! HA! HA!!!!!

Amazing how many of the Youtube links you post are already songs embedded on my MP3 player.

"I'll hide behind a smile and understanding eyes. And I'll tell you things that you already know so that you can say I already identify with you so much! I'll come to you like an affliction but I'll leave you like an addiction. You'll never forget me!"

  3. My roommate's parents really suck. Either that or I'm spoiled. Probably both. I mean, at some point you have to cut the apron strings, but they won't help her financially with anything. She pays almost all of her tuition ($45K/year), has to pay for all her own food and books and supplies, gets no help with application fees or GREs or anything for graduate school, and is basically perpetually teetering on the brink. I guess I'm living with a silver spoon in my mouth because it's the expectation in my family that parents help full-time college student children who can't support themselves with the bills, but I know many families do it differently. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just not the way my family does it.

But then yesterday morning she broke her thumb really badly in a freak accident. She has $14 left in her budget for the rest of the week and couldn't afford a taxi ride to a clinic in town for x-rays. So the campus health center gave her a taxi voucher and I lent her $20 for her insurance co-pay, which I don't want returned. Her parents berated her for getting hurt and refused to help out because "it was her own fault." I may be spoiled, but that's just plain awful. Is this normal? Am I living in Care Bear Land to think that it's shocking that parents would refuse to help with this and say something like that? She didn't seem half as bothered by it as I was.

There's two types of support when it comes to college kids: Financial and emotional. It sounds like your roommate is getting neither and that sucks.

I can understand if mom and dad don't have two nickels to rub together and can't afford to help her with her expenses, but berating her for breaking her thumb? As long as she didn't break setting up her meth lab or in some other illegal/unsavory activity, that's shameful.

As far as living in Care Bear Land is concerned...you already seem appreciative, but I hope this reinforces how blessed you are to have a family that will make sacrifices for their children. I also hope that you'll continue to be supportive of your roommate.

  4. Also, my rant of the day: Why does Tastycake package their cupcakes in such a way that 60% of the icing sticks to the plastic when you open them?

Peel the plastic from the cupcake and not the cupcake from the plastic and it won't be a problem. You're welcome! ;)

  5. Massive bump.

One thing just struck me though - it's been six weeks, and as far as I know, bikiniarmstrong never once protested 'her' ban. Interesting in that 'she' didn't put up any fight at all.:scratchchinhmm:

It did, however, try re-registering twice.

  6. Was wondering if someone would comment on that one, one of the best I've posted. Rare excellent live video. Eric and War weren't together for very long.

What I wouldn't do to have been there to witness some of the amazing stuff you've posted.

  7. Couples who buy a dog together that don't actually live together. I really don't get that one.

How about people who just buy dogs? Do yourself a favor and check a shelter first. There's something special about adopting a dog and giving him or her a second chance. I swear they know.

  8. Don't answer my e-mail with a freaking phone call unless somewhere in the body of the e-mail I asked you to call me. Bonus points if you call me and I specifically asked you to respond via e-mail in the body of the e-mail. :angryfire:

  9. I'm proud to say my good buddy T-Jay and I got to see James Brown play live at Woodstock '99. It was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced musically.

By the way, scOtt...your taste in rock n' roll? If I Fed-Ex my MP3 player to you, will you load it full of songs that ScottieBaseball needs to be listening to?

Seriously...China Grove by the Doobie Brothers. The Faces. James Brown. Get right outta my head. It's to the point where I get mad when I'm at work (no YouTube) and I can't click a link you post in a music thread.

Some time in the near future, I'm packing a bag, kissing my wife and kids goodbye, and telling them I'm heading out on an all-weekend musical pilgrimage to Pennsylvania. Clear me (and my empties) a spot on your living room floor. Should I bring my own headphones?

  10. I have no idea what you're talking about*, but Steve Winwood was the singer in Spencer Davis's group at the time they recorded "Gimme Some Lovin." And I think he was younger than that. 17, maybe?

*So can you explain what rick rolling is?

Perhaps it would be best if someone directed you to an informative website on the subject...
