I am finding myself feeling somewhat giddy.

Jomboy discusses differences he notes about the way the game is played today versus what he observes in Game 5 of the 1969 World Series. I found it to be a quite interesting analysis and seeing the old footage from the game was enjoyable.

I am starting to having a difficult time imagining, short of a public mea culpa from JA (improbable), that Kevin Brown will ever do another Oriole play-by-play broadcast. I know Brittany reported an August 11 return, but how can Brown retain his dignity without a JA statement absolving Kevin of any wrongdoing?

Mike Boddicker just dazzled the opposition hitters with his off-speed pitching and control during the post season. He won the Orioles’ first game in both the Chicago series and the Philadelphia series. He was truly magnificent and turned around the momentum established by the Sox and Phillies with each winning the first game of their respective series.

Once, a long time ago in Boston, there was the Mother’s Day Massacre. Today, we witnessed the April Fool’s Day Massacre.

What a fun and inspirational game that was to watch. It has been a long while, but you cannot help but feel good about this team and its fans - that home crowd was electric and deserved that outcome.

All of us must be on the alert of a scenario possibly developing on a cold night this coming January at the airport, whereby an obviously inebriated John Angelos blares out to local reporters that:
“I haven't any intention of moving the goddamn team”.
Past is prologue.

Two perfect innings from Lopez today. Easy 97/98 mph heat with lots of movement and decent control.

Pearl Harbor Stops the Birth of LA Browns
After reading this article, there are all sorts of “what ifs”. In 1958, would the “Monumental City” have an MLB team called the Baltimore Dodgers? Let your imagination run wild.
I suppose this post belongs in Orioles History, but I felt it suited here for now to gather more eyeballs due to much interest.

As defined by MLB tradition, a “perfect game” is a team accolade, not just necessarily a pitcher accolade.
According to Wikipedia (not the final word): To achieve a perfect game, a team must not allow any opposing player to reach base by any means: no hits, walks, hit batsmen, uncaught third strikes, catcher's or fielder's interference, or fielding errors.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_game_(baseball)
I think it is somewhat a misstatement to say in a contracted form that a pitcher “pitched a no-hit, perfect game”. A more correct phrasing would be that the “team played a perfect game behind the no-hit pitching of the pitcher”.

I found this to be a fascinating article:
THE ELITE: In 150 years of MLB, fewer than 20,000 players have appeared in a major-league game. -
Mr. Weams, the grandest thoughts and prayers from my family to you and your family. I love your dedication and loyalty to our O’s!

I just watched the Belanger documentary - worth viewing. I learned that Belanger was an equally gifted H. S. basketball player who respected Bob Cousy’s playing style. Belanger was planning to attend Boston College under the tutelage of Cousy as head coach. But Cousy delayed his NBA retirement one more year and Belanger chose instead to sign with the O’s. Such is fate. One criticism - I found that the background music was too loud and made it difficult at times to follow some of the commentary.

Why am I not able to see this game on MASN in Harford County? They are showing the Strongman Competition!

Some really outstanding image colorization work here of baseball legends. Check out that cleats up slide into 2nd base back in 1921. Do you think that might have caused a serious brawl in today’s game?

Listening to tonight’s game on the radio due to the Apple TV broadcast. I sure do miss Joe Angel and Fred Manfra.
