Not real. They are who we thought they are.

For all the problems this year, people are creative. I think the cutouts are fun. Some teams have apps to send in your picture and they randomly select and print them. There are many cutouts of old players, Star Wars figures and everything else. I've seen Bartman, Soto hit a HR near a section of his family cutouts, etc. It does make it feel a bit more normal and we all need that, same with the sounds. I still want a highlight video of cardboard fans being destroyed by foul balls and homeruns though.
Best one I saw was of Bernie from "Weekend at Bernie's," lol....

Holy Small Sample Size, Batman! Let's see how he does over an entire 162 game season.

I think the team is bereft of ML talent and is merely playing reasonably well in a small sample size. If they somehow get to the playoffs they have no chance to win the WS.
This. Stick to the plan. Trade anyone they can of value that is older than 28 or 29.

At the end of the day, what do they have to lose playing Sisco during this walking cluster of a season? Might as well play him & give him a chance to improve.

Funny this is, wasn't Severino reputed to be a strong defensive catcher?

Any insight into their goal here? Just a developmental thing? I can't imagine they'd call him up, right?

Sulser for Cy Young? Doesn't often go to a relief pitcher, but his numbers extrapolate to something like 100 innings, 50 SV, 0.00 ERA.
He's got my vote....dude was lights out all year....

There are going to be some bizarre records too.
Who wins the AL MVP? I nominate Jose Iglesias
Hyde for AL Manager of the Year! Mike Elias for Executive of the Year!

Next tweet: Justin Shafer has opted out.
You joke, and I laughed, but it wouldn't shock me if he does. It's a crazy world, man.

A lot of questions about why the game wasn’t cancelled yesterday with 4 Marlins testing positive. Probably because MLB has no protocols in place for this.
This. I saw a snippet from an article from The Athletic that someone posted on another forum, and it's not a good optic for the Marlins and MLB that they played the game yesterday.

Ha, woops, I'll correct this. Just years of Fred Manfra, clearly.
I think I saw another poster or two make the same mistake, which is why I was wondering if there was something going over my head, lol.

I remember the old rec league days, having to more some players to the opposing team, so we could have a game.
There's a Chris Davis joke in there somewhere.....

In the interest of keeping this thread open for information on how the O's/MLB handle this cancellation and things moving forward, I suggest we keep the COVID opinions out of it as much as possible. Or this thread will almost certainly get locked. By now most of us know where each other stand, so what's the point?
The facts are:
- Tonight's game is canceled.
- 12 Marlins players and 2 coaches are positive.
- Phillies (last Marlins opponent) are in lockdown until their test results are back.
- Fred Manfred has yet to make any statement.
- We don't know if the game will be made up, forfeited, or something else.
Side note - is there a joke I'm missing re: calling Rob Manfred, "Fred?" I think I've seen several people do it.

I guess you need baseball that badly for some reason. I really don't. Made it this far this year without it, could keep going just fine.
Without getting too political, it's tragic when anyone passes away from it. That said, I'll be shocked if any pro athlete gets sick and passes away from it. These are young men and women in outstanding physical shape, AND they have access to the absolute best health care in the country.

No, but it may be the type of baseball we have to have in order to have a season.
If that's the best they can do, then there's no reason to even have a season. Might as well just put us out there.

10 guys getting it from 1 team... Isn't that an indication that they're doing something wrong? If you say it's not, then maybe it's time to shut down the season. How is it no one or the other?
Fair question.

Only 9 on the field at a time.
Pitching changes? Injury during a game requiring a substitution? You'd need at least 12-13 players going into a game, and that's probably not even enough.

40 man shouldn't even count this year. They're making all kind of changes why not do away with the 40 man roster limitations for this kind of problem?
It almost seems like they have to if they want to have a season. I can't believe that they didn't anticipate this happening (likely multiple times), and have some kind of contingency plan.

Seems to me that the best we can hope from Ruiz is 15-20 home runs, .270/.330/.450.
I'd take a .780 OPS from our 26-year old 3B making the league minimum. Excited to watch Ruiz this season and see if he fits into a bigger picture...
Right? Those numbers aren't outstanding, but when you consider that he's regarded as a good glove at 3rd, I'll take it.

So if the season WERE to end from this and the O's don't play any other games.....could the O's declare themselves 2020 AL East Champions? Asking for a friend.....

I think they could get a company in there to do a CDC-approved deep clean and sanitization prior to the team populating the clubhouse for the game.
And I should add - again - that you would like to think MLB had some kind on contingency plan for this very thing.....

No, they shouldn't. Just.....no. See Frobby's thread. This season is Fool's Gold. Stick to the long term plan.
