You referenced one band I never heard of with another band I’ve never heard of.  Lol

The Swampers were the studio band at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL.  They are the band behind numerous huge hits and at one point spent a summer touring as the band for someone big (can't remember who).

A bold and very Tampa Bay move would be to move Adley for pitching and slide in Basallo as catcher in 1 to 2 years

Adley looks to be a .260 ish 20 homer guy that is not  even a great defensive catcher who is already 26

Holy Crap, he's had one full year in MLB.  In Mauer's first full year he had an OPS of .783.  Adley was .809 after a debut of .806.

The WS fans want high upside guys. I get it, I would too if I were them.

Just for fun, I went back to the Bedard trade.  Bedard had 4 full seasons before we traded him (at least 24 starts) with an average ERA+ of 118 (it's not weighted properly but trying to make simple).  Cease in his 3 full seasons for WS has an average ERA+ of 129.  Bedard was a year older at the time of trade, but also had either one or two more years of control left.  It's an interesting comparison.

I'm a bit surprised to see that Ortiz is this "low."  The praise for him on this board- not necessarily from Tony though- has been effusive.  It seems the consensus is he's an everyday SS/2b and he's ready immediately.  If that's true and we have six better guys than that, awesome!

Gunnar, Grayson, Hall, Westburg.  Not sure who 5 and 6 are.

There is a lot we don't know.  I would think Villar and his agent do have an idea as to the O's tactics.  Otherwise, I think we'd have heard from one of them in the last few days.

Your thought could be true, but for those types of answers we'll have to maintain patience.  And obviously that is never fun.  Haha

My guess is Villar's agent wanted to test the waters on the full arb figure, and Elias was comfortable doing it.  I bet we hear about a 2 or 3 year agreement soon.

He is the second best player on this team behind Mancini.  Letting him go for nothing except salary savings is disappointing on any level.  I have to watch Davis flounder through another season and don't get to watch Villar.  That's beyond disappointing.  Are they related?  No, but yes.  One is kept because of money, one is let go because of much less money.  I don't believe that cutting Villar helps the rebuild in any way.  It only makes my viewing experience much worse.  Can't explain why I'm upset any clearer than that.

I have read through this entire thread, so maybe I'm missing something here.  Isn't it possible that Elias told Villar's agent that they want to keep him, but it doesn't make sense at the projected arbitration figure?  Villar's agent asked for waivers based on trying to find out if someone would bite and get the full amount vs. whatever the O's are offering in a new deal?

Nashville or Salt Lake City would be my guesses. 2 prime and rapidly expanding markets that would be uncontestable with other teams in the league.

Being an O's and baseball fan that has lived in Nashville for 17 years, I believe Nashville is primed to get a team either by relocation (Tampa, Oakland) or expansion, which is expected once the issues with the two teams I mentioned are resolved.  Las Vegas is obviously a possibility, but from the extensive reading I've done on the subject, Portland seems to be the overwhelming favorite, followed by Vegas, Nashville, and San Antonio.  I think a 3rd team in Texas is unlikely.  Nashville opened a new AAA stadium downtown a few years back, and I believe they built it with the ability to expand down the road.  The only issue is it would be only 3 hours from Suntrust in Atlanta.
