  1. I think basically the issue comes down to the fact that O'Hearn and Hicks are playing great, Frazier has been servicable, and Mateo has value as a fantastic defender and SB threat. I understand the frustration but remember all these guys are human beings and the organization doesn't want to be ruthless with their players. As long as O'Hearn and Hicks are hitting we likely won't see any changes.

  2. I watched the whole game. Seemed to make a concerted effort to pitch fastballs lower in the zone early. Control looked better than any of his starts in Baltimore this season. He was also up against a lineup with many major leaguers like Franchy Cordero and Wilmer Difo, as well as great prospects. Impressive!

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but Frazier's HR made me think of it again.  But I think Frazier could be a lab rat for data this year too.  @Tony-OH has called him the anti-analytics guy and that's true from a historic use of EV, LA, etc.  Frazier obviously doesn't fit that profile.  So, did the SigBot see something beyond a LHB 2B?  If so, what?  What type of hitting data are they mining?  Quality of contact, pitches per AB, spray charts...?  Frazier has dipped into a bit more power than many of us expected while maintaining the low K%, high contact rates, and OBP.  Can the data pulled from the Frazier experience be transferred to Prieto or Jackson?

Frazier did have one of the highest Line Drive rates for hitters over the last few years. The new rules seem to favor LD hitters as the infielders can't play on the outfield grass anymore. May have had something to do with that and then got lucky with the power surge.

  4. Kyle Gibson is not Jordan Lyles 2.0. Gibson is coming in with ~4.00 xFIP last 2 seasons, Lyles was coming in with ~5.00.  I don't get the disappointment, he's a good pitcher and if we improve something with him he would move toward being a great pitcher.
