Fingers crossed for Yelich, but a ballplayer conceding that much early in a scenario is ominous.

I don’t know the specifics of his injury, but I felt the same way when I hurt my back. I have a very close friend who is an ER doctor. I remember venting to him that my career in Fire/EMS was over. I couldn’t stand up straight or feel my right foot. I was 38 and weighed almost 300lbs. That didn’t help. He told me that it’s normal to feel that way, but it’s way too soon to come to any conclusions until after surgery and therapy. My surgery was extensive. I had my L2 through S1 cleaned out at University of MD by their chief of spine surgery. Now here I am at 41, 185lbs, and can run circles around my kids.

I understand that it’s different for a pro athlete, but it does get better and he can have a great quality of life post career.

If there was anything pre-existing, the team knew about it during spring training. Hopefully it’s a disk that can be fixed and he’ll be right back out there next spring.

Depending on the exact expected timing, the O’s might be smart to use an opener tonight and then bring Burnes in after the inevitable rain delay.  I’d hate to see him pitch 2-3 innings and then not be able to continue due to the delay.

    Wise beyond your years.

  3. I want to see how the league adjusts to him after another 2-3 starts before I start calling him a #3. There isn’t much reference material on him after his adjustments over spring.

What’s also important are the adjustments he makes back. Still, he looks solid!

I notice he called out the MLB about the pitcher injuries and said they won't do anything about it or something close to that. Good interview after the game.

He did after being asked. He seems like an honest dude. I don’t think he would have volunteered that information though.

Anyone running into issues avoiding the blackout?  When I turn on my VPN (Nord VPN)  it blocks me from accessing my subscription and when the VPN is turned off I'm blacked out.

Is there a workaround for this?

Nord isn’t working for me either. I’m doing the Fubo free trial. 🤣

  6. I did it. I cut the cord.

I couldn't justify paying $253 every single month anymore for a service that I only use for MASN. To add salt to that wound, they were going to charge me more money eventually!

    Here's what I did -

I started talking to an Xfinity rep on Reddit. Yes, Reddit. They have a whole subreddit that has Xfinity reps as mods. I sent them mod mail and began the process. Told them I wanted to bring my own gateway and don't want their equipment anymore. They gave me a link to see which aftermarket gateways were compatible with their service.

I bought the Arris G36 modem/router. Keep in mind that Xfinity charges $15 a month, every month, for as long as you use their gateway. I paid $300 for it and the Geek Squad protection plan. It will have paid for itself in 20 months. I've had the same Xfinity gateway for 6 years now. I'll save you the math - I've spent around $900 renting that gateway. Never. Again.

Once I got my new gateway online with current service, I reached out to that reddit team again. They offered me their Superfast tier for $95 a month at speeds up to 800 Mbps. I agreed to paperless billing and autopay, which reduced my bill to $85 INCLUDING fees and taxes. They were very upfront. It's over. I cut it.

I'm saving $168 a month. I checked the upfront price for MLB Tv for the whole year and its $150. I'm going to buy that package and STILL save $18 this month. I'll figure out a VPN before the season starts.

If you're considering it, do it. It's very freeing. I'm saving $2016 a year by getting rid of that garbage.

  7. I’m doing it. I’m pulling the trigger and cutting cable. I just went and bought the Arris G36 modem/router and am in talks with a Comcast rep to downgrade to internet only. I don’t even want to rent a modem from them at this point.

I just paid a $253 bill. Never again. I’ll get a VPN and pay upfront for a MLB subscription for the year. We only watch Netflix anyways. Screw cable. I’m done.
