  1. Ahh yes, the best way to judge the social tolerance of a nation is by perusing comments on internet articles. I'd also like to point out that the "a lot" you're referring to is an incredibly insignificant sample size.

In fairness there is a lot of real estate out there in the middle of the country especially that is about 30 years behind other areas. You see small sample sizes around here, leave our area and go down to southern virginia.

  2. At least you know the shows aren't going to be canceled and the cliff hangers will eventually be resolved. I'm still wondering what the hell happened in Rubicon.

I'm still waiting to see if Delinda lost the baby on Las Vegas...

  3. Yes, you do. Last night's episode was awesome. I've rewatched it 3 times already. And you should watch them in order, because there is a continuous building story arc.

CBS always does this to me. I can handle it with CSI: Miami because the show's been around so long that I know whatever crazy thing happens, it'll be set right somehow. But Hawaii Five-0 is such a new show that I can't predict where the writers are going to take it. The season 3 finale of Numb3rs, where they left me thinking Colby Granger was a Chinese spy all summer, had me so angry and upset I was practically in tears. I'm thinking I may have to DVR this and either find out what happens so I can better prepare myself to watch it, or store it until the fall and then watch it right before the season premier so I'm not left dangling so long. I don't watch many TV shows but when I get into one, I get REALLY into it.

Yeah that's why I'm so behind cause I know I can't just skip one and catch back up, and I know they have to answer the questions they started way back in the pilot. I have a few I'm REALLY into and then I have some I just kinda watch when I'm bored, but I'm getting more into this one now that some of my other shows have been ending or cancelled.

  4. Hey CBS, I saw the promo for the Hawaii Five-0 season finale tonight. If you make the last scene of the first season be the team being disbanded as Alex O'Loughlin is hauled away in handcuffs then leave me hanging for 4 months, I'm going to throw my remote through the screen of my new TV. I'm still reeling from the ending of CSI: Miami last night, and I can't take any more.

I guess I need to catch up on the 5 episodes on my DVR pretty fast huh?

  5. Its like Buck is the opposite of how the consensus (maybe vocal minority) treated Tejada towards the end of his first stay. Tejada kill kittens and caused malaria, Buck brings peace in the Middle East.

Buck gave the internets back to Egypt.

  6. It was around 8:00am, so the morning rush. Normally all the traffic is on the Outer Loop at that point so when I got on and saw all the brake lights where there normally are none I knew instantly that something was very wrong and turned on the radio, but by then it was too late.

I saw pictures of the accident last night. It looked like a dump truck had actually landed on TOP of a car. Somehow, no one died. But they had to shut down both sides to get the helicopter and the hydraulic scissors in. I don't know when the backup finally cleared, but it was probably 5-6 hours.

Edit: I just read that the debris not only was strewn across all 4 lanes of the Inner Loop and went over the jersey barrier into the left lane of the Outer Loop, but stuff actually flew over the side of the bridge (the crash was on the Northwest Branch Bridge between exits 29 and 28) and landed on New Hampshire Avenue, causing a backup there as well. Holy crap. What was in that dump truck?

Holy crap! Yeah she was Outer looping it in the a.m. but she has to be at work by 7 so she was long through there then. That's just nuts. This is why I taught her the Randolph to Cherry Hill cut through for those bad traffic nights. I feel totally out of the loop, this is the first I heard of it, that's what I get for going to bed all early last night I guess.

  7. Anybody else get stuck on the Beltway today? I had the misfortune of getting on the Inner Loop at Georgia Ave. pretty much exactly when the crash happened and they shut down all the lanes. The 3/4 mile trip to escape at the next (and last) usable exit was 20 minutes, and it was only that fast because people started pulling out and driving on the shoulder. Total nightmare.

You know it's a bad accident when it manages to block all 4 lanes on one side and one lane on the other with debris. 10-mile backup. Ah, DC traffic!

Good lord that's ugly. What time was that? Wifey takes the Inner loop home around 330 on Fridays but had to stop off in Bethesda for a couple hours yesterday so she didn't end up making the trip until about 530 and by then she was home in 25 min.

Sorry you got stuck in that one, the worst I've ever had personally was when the Redskins hosted the Steelers on Monday night, took me 3 hours to get from Potomac to Lanham. (20 min without traffic).

  8. So with a bunch of scar tissue in my rotator cuff and a beat up labrum, I'm smart enough to not go out throwing baseballs or softballs like I used to, everytime I throw too hard some tears, it doesn't feel good.

So I don't know why I completely forgot this while out throwing snowballs earlier...now I'm hurting. Wonder if I throw another one hard enough if I can go get it all checked out and have surgery now, 8 years after the fact.

  9. I really don't want to get your "sympathy" for having a second girl. Yes, I am male. Yes, I like football. No, I am not the least bit disappointed that I will be having my second girl. My goal in reproducing was not to "have someone to throw a football with." I happen to be quite fond of the first little girl and quite excited about the second one. Honestly, if that's your response...just keep your comments to yourself...because it makes my task of keeping my response to myself much easier.

I know how you feel, everyone wants to ask, oh, I bet you wanted a boy. I'm sick of saying, no I wanted a healthy baby, mind your own business.

  10. 'Icing' When did this become cool/popular? Why should you be seen drinking a crappy drink, I don't get it.

It was pretty crazy back in like June, but I was hoping it had died off already.

  11. People getting into trade rumors and only look at prospects in return that fill gaping holes at our ML level. We are a horrible team, we need the best prospects we can get back regardless of position. Anyone claiming to only be looking for certain prospects back (SS for Wiggy) is posturing and trying to imply what we'd like, not what we'd accept.

Stop proposing trades for borderline prospects that are too old for AA/AAA because they happen to play SS or 1B. Aim for players on their top 10 list regardless of position.

  12. And why would you want to get rid of a flea that stinkin' cute?

Thanks! It's the other ones that have been going after her chubby little legs that are bothering me :(

  13. That's a big ass flea...and why did you clothe it? ;)

It's been around so long it's like part of the family, and no one wants to see a naked flea when they come over. DUH!

  14. Summer time fleas. Frontline every 30 days is a necessity, and even then new ones seem to find their way in from outside. It's just a pain until the frontline works and kills them off, and you have to hope they don't find some hole to lay eggs in. HATE THEM.

Too many stray cats in the neighborhood is why there are so many around. Seems like everytime we give the girls a bath and get them all cleaned off, a day later and more jump on for the ride. Poor dogs...

  15. So my now ex told me she wanted to break up with me today through a text message and has since been upset at me and claiming I didn't care about the relationship because I didn't try to convince her otherwise.

The thing is, this is probably the 4th time she's done this, so I'm tired of it, and it didn't seem like things were going to work out anyway, so why am I going to fight for it?

Classic girl trick...I don't know why they try to bait you into things like that. My answer is, of course I'm going to do the opposite of what you want when you were so painfully obvious about trying to manipulate me into doing something a certain way.

  16. Congrats on the double promotion.

Mine always follows me into the bathroom and always says "I pee-pee". She's too young to start potty training but all the girls at daycare (2.5-3 year olds) are potty training so she wants to be a big girl like they are. That's also how we got her to take a sippy and give up bottles, all the other girls were using sippys and she wanted to be a big girl then too. :D

Yeah mine is only 16 months, she's no where near ready yet, but she's the most inquisitive and logical baby I have ever seen. She just has to figure out every last thing that does anything or she isn't happy. She can walk in the room, pick up the two remotes, turn the tv on, and then change the channel with the other. I'm just hoping she's this quick when it comes to potty training ;)

  17. That's flippin' sweet....

I'm now out of a job now that my appointment's over. Hopefully this spell won't last too long....

That sucks, sorry man. Hopefully its a short spell, mine was terribly long until this.

  18. Thanks. She's always doing stuff like that since she started talking. It almost seems like it doesn't stop.

Ha, mine walked in the bathroom, flushed the toilet, waves and says "bye bye pee". Maybe she's ready for potty training?

On the anti-rant side of things. I got promoted today. Twice, in 5 hours.

  19. Ah, ya gotta love college stories.

My freshman year, I did more drinking and poker playing than actually going to class, and the 1.94 sent a crystal clear message that I better get my ass motivated!

I cleaned things up after that. But there was this one class, Statistics. I went to every class for the first few weeks, ans still scored a 25% on the first test. But since everyone did bad, that 25% was curved up to a C. WTF? Went to class for the next few weeks, again scored below a 30%, and again this became a C. The rest of the semester, the ONLY time I went to class was on test days. I scored no worse than the 20-30% I was getting when I actually TRIED to do good, and still ended up with a C overall in the class. Nothing I am proud of. I learned zilch in the class. But I was able to score a C in a class that I will never use in my life, and I'm not totally convinced that even had I gone to class, I would have done any better.

Right there with you. I got an A in Calc 1 and 2, but had to drop Stats the first time because it just didn't make sense. In the end I did the math and needed an 82 on the final to pull a C in the class, I rocked an 85, and then when the grade came out the curve was so steep I got an A.

  20. Thanks for the info guys. I found a specialty running store in town and am going to go there as soon as my foot stops hurting. I've found that it's actually the outside of my right foot and not my ankle. This is what I get for being cheap and using my super-old running shoes.

Yup, that's over-pronation, under is the inside of your foot. Makes you more vulnerable for ankle sprains too, so watch out for that. Let us know if you find something that helps.
