Jorge lopez is not the answer at the back of the bullpen

I almost wonder if they shouldn't throw flaherty in the closer role

Flaherty?????? You must be nuts. The guy is way too hittable.

We don't have an answer for closer right now. The league seems to have figured out Cano (especially lefties). If I had to pick one I'd pick Fuji right but that could change any second.

The Angels are in a great position, really. They aren't getting rid of Ohtani unless someone goes nuts for him and offers the farm. If he's traded, the biggest draw on earth is gone, if he's there, people are going to show up to see him play. They aren't taking middling prospects for Ohtani.

Why wouldn't the Angels take the best offer available? If no team "goes nuts" for Ohtani, you think they'll just keep Ohtani and lose him for nothing in the offseason?

That series may effect Toronto for a while.  Two extra-inning losses, the managerial gaffe, lots of bullpen spent.  Brutal.

Overrunning 2nd base on that steal, getting picked off at first base in the 10th, the flyball miscommunication leading to a double, and all those RISP they left.

    Good grief jays.

Come on dude.  It's been 11 games. Should the O's trade him for a bag of balls?

The guy swings at everything and is a giant hole in the middle of the lineup right now. No one is saying he'll continue at this horrible pace. Just saying it's difficult to watch RIGHT NOW. Calm down.

  5. Really excited for both these guys. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of these two more so than any other prospects in the farm.

I did hope to see Cowser hit a little more than he has but he has so far been an OBP machine. Not sure if his history is more of a streaky hitter or not and that's what's led to his slow hitting start but nevertheless the guy knows how to get on base. He seems to draw a walk almost every game.

Kjerstad has been on a tear. I know it's only spring training but it doesn't seem long before he makes it to the yard. I remember Elias  saying when Kjerstad was drafted, Kjerstad was the best bat in the draft.

Nevertheless it's awesome to see both these guys produce. Can't wait for the season to start!

  6. Vavra seems like a decent bench/infield utility guy.

Not a fan of Stowers at all. Too undisciplined as a hitter. Seems to swing and miss on every low breaking ball he should be just taking. I am hopeful Colton Cowser will be the next guy to slot in every day in the OF.

I am wondering if Lopez has some makeup issues that caused the O's to move on from him.

Doubtful. Elias spoke glowingly about Cade Povich and believes Povich can be a "top of the rotation" starter. I think this is a case of the Twins making an offer Elias couldn't turn down.

  8. I know this sounds reactionary because Stowers had a bad day. at the plate. But his plate discipline is less than impressive so far. He appears to swing at every low breaking ball. I'm no scout, but I am not optimistic about this guy at all.

With Grayson, DL Hall, and Means the rotation should be better. Still significant holes elsewhere. It's going to depend on the prospects stepping up.

I do think it is starting to look optimistic.

And how much better would this rotation look if we sign a legit TOR vet to go with these young guys. Which I'm sure is what Elias is thinking too. Exciting indeed.

  10. I love the moves Elias has made so far, he's earned my trust. I think it was a no brainer trading Mancini and Lopez. Haven't seen this posted about Povich, one of the prospects gotten from Lopez, Elias says:

"We’ve got a tremendous bullpen and a deep bullpen and guys that can step in. And if we’re able to get four pitching prospects, particularly Cade Povich is somebody that we’re very, very high on internally, and think we’ve got a possible front-of-the-rotation starter and a guy that’s going to be in the mid-minors here before the end of the year..."
