I'm surprised there is no love for Kiko.

'27 Yanks did it in one season. Obviously, that record will stand as it was in an 8 team league. My bad, it was 21 straight out of 22.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/NYY/1927-schedule-scores.shtmlI assumed it was a single season. I just wanted to point out that once upon a time the Os were pretty effing good:)

15 straight losses to NY? Child’s play. The ‘27 Yanks beat the St Louis Browns 22 straight before dropping game 23.
We beat the Royals 24 times in a row. That was over 3 seasons, 1969, 1970 and 1971. We lost the first game in 69 then won 11 straight that season. Swept all 12 in 70 and won the first game in 71.

I find it amusing how folks here have turned on Manny. You know that if he were still an O's and doing this some of these same folks would be defending him.
How many times have you seen a runner touch the 1B on routine ground balls? Touch, not hit their heel twice in a week and a half?

Admired the longest single ever tonight.
7.17 seconds to get to first base. That's a fact.

Well for one thing I never said Manny didnt have a fast time running from 2nd to home. I never questioned that. What I did say was that he had no buisness looking behind him to see where the ball was going. That slowed him down. I also said that he slowed down coming around 3rd and than had to kick it into a higher gear.
As far as the 6-3 185 comment. That was in response to the "big man" comment. Without question he is not 185 that was kind of a smart a$$ remark to the big man comment. Also without question nobody is going to call him a big man.

His slide was one of the best I've seen since J.J. Hardy. I think his time from second to home was excellent as well for a big man.
Typical reply. What was he looking at when the ball was hit before he started running hard? There were 2 outs. The only thing he should have looked at was the 3rd base coach. By the way, Manny is listed as 6-3 185. Lorenzo Cain is listed at 6-2 205. Now I am sure the comeback will be "that hasnt been updated in years, blah blah blah". People keep finding excuses for this guy. Just watch with an open mind.

It was bush league. Just like Manny. All you Manny lovers can slobber all over him but he is bush league. When he scored the winning run last night he slowed down for an instant around third and just beat the throw.

Kole Calhoun is having a worse year than Davis. Calhoun is batting .145 and has OPS of .376. Calhouns oWar is -1.9 compared to Davis at -1.6. I should probably have posted this in the Positive vibes only thread but it is buried several pages back and didnt want to bump it:)

Davis needs to do it. Sheesh.
I don't think any fan thinks Bonds, Clemens, Raffy were isolated incidents. Certainly Bonds and Clemens probably gained the most from doing it but I don't think anyone thinks it was isolated.
How big of a surprise would it be if it came out that Cal was using Peds? If I had to guess gun to head I would say no but I would spend some time thinking about it.

It hurts to look at Josh Hader's stats. Best young lefty reliever in baseball?
Tonight he pitched 2.2 innings striking out 8. He issued an intentional walk and got the save. Becoming a younger Andrew Miller.

Adam has made outs on the bases 45 times in his career; Manny 35 times in approximately half as many games. So, Manny’s been worse. Neither has been perfect, and nobody is. BB-ref calculates that in total Manny’s baserunning has been worth -5 runs in his 5+ years with the team; a pretty trivial number.
Not arguing with you just discussing. There are outs and there are bad outs. And perception is a lot of it. How many times has Jones been thrown out at second because he stood at the plate thinking he had a homer? How many times has Jones made the last out trying to go from first to third?
Also where can I find the stats for number of times a runner has been thrown out. That would be interesting to look at.

I understand why fans dislike it when a very talented player has occasional lapses in concentration or hustle. Manny does have those things at times; I won’t deny it. I think the frequency and unusualness of it compared to other players is overstated, though. And, to me it’s still about the total package, which is still fantastic. I’d rather have Manny than some far less productive scrappy guy. I’d rather have him than any other position player on our team, easily. And almost any position player on any other team, with only a few exceptions.
How many times has Adam Jones been thrown out by a "ridiculous margin". I am sure it happens but I dont remember many mistakes by Jones. We don't have a thread on hear titled Adam Jones base running. Alomar made some stupid decisions on the bases but not to the extent that Manny does.

I meant that Cal started in 1981, Manny in 2011, 31 years apart.
Ok.

I certainly will. He’s the best Oriole position player in 30 years.
You think he is better than Cal?

Why would the Nationals be playing more competitive teams in the proposed division? The same motley bunch they currently play would be included except for the Mets and they add Pttisburgh, Tampa, Cincy and us.
If you have an "eastern" division that has to include the New York teams and Boston.

Also, is he any relation to Willie Mays Hays?

I think the answer to this question is no, but would Hays be eligible for the postseason?

Which is?
EdRod has been terrific in 7 of his 10 starts (0 runs twice, 1 run five times, 2 runs once) and horrific in the other three (6 runs or more). All in all, he's 5-3. If I'm the Red Sox I'm pretty happy about that ratio. We'll see if the ratio changes over the rest of the season.
Since his first two starts he has pitched 33.2 innings and given up 42 hits, 12BB, 27ER, 25K, 6HR with an ERA of 7.22. Maybe teams are getting a good book him.
