  1. I shook his hand once, about 1997-99 I think. My lord, it was like trying to grasp a large canned ham.
  2. ...and here's another vote for "D-Day". I like it.
  3. 3 whom I forgot yesterday: Trumbo = Trombone For Joey Rickard I'm torn between "Little Ricky" and "Rickyard" (I used to go to the Indy 500 every year). And from the "I live in Hampden" department, Kim is, very simply, "Honfest". Back to Miley tomorrow; I want to see him work tonight.
  4. "Hawkeye" is the obvious choice for Pearce. For the other guy, I think it'd be perfect if the corresponding roster move when we traded for him had been Roe. That cut came a couple of days earlier IIRC -- but "Wade versus Roe" woulda been excellent! Failing that, the best I have so far is "Four-Minute Miley" but by no means am I married to it.
  5. oh, and, SIAP but I would downvote this nickname only because I hope like hell that it never happens.
  6. Ted (the serial killer)? only other pun that comes to mind for me is from his first name and it's a song, not a nickname "...and the outs, they are a change up!"
  7. hint: his last name sounds like a mouthwash. Oh, and having read the thread now, I totally endorse and applaud Tippecanoe and Yoga.
  8. some pitchers... Jimmy (Ubaldo Jimenez) Gauze (the rotation Band-Aid) [brach] Obama Robin [Givens] (which suggests it might be worth the effort to ID a "Batman" in the 'pen) Eck (Chris Davis - but only when he pitches)
  9. off the top of my head... Chad Hawkeye (welcome back!) Mintyfresh Fellaherty CaJo Ma Tweeters Bri'in (in honor of Brittany Ghiroli's pronunciation) I'm probably forgetting some.
  10. <p><p><p>"Mattress" is a pretty good pun on his name. I've used it for years. I get that you don't like "Chad"; to each his own, I suppose. You probably aren't a fan of "Mintyfresh" or "Pond" or "Keet" or "CaJo" or "Rhymold" or "Jimmy" or "Fellaherty" either, I assume... That's perfectly fine, and incidentally thank you for the compliment - I don't know you but assume that you're a good person too.</p></p></p>

  11. no verdict yet. jury still out on both players involved.
  12. I seem to recall David Cone changing addresses at the end of July every single year in the early 90s...?
