With a whopping 95 ERA+
If Gibson had anything left in the tank, a division rival would not be trading.

Eovaldi instead of Gibson >>>>>>>> Just Gibson
if they were going to not try, then I would rather they didnt pretend and skip signing Gibson and Fraizer.

If Elias is able to make a trade for another quality starting pitcher, I will be fine with this off season when considering the likely inclusion of Henderson and Rodriquez on the opening roster and the later arrivals of others like Westburg, Ortiz and Cowser. But, absent that trade (I don't like the remaining free agent options), I will also be disappointed. The Marlins, Mariners, Guardians and Twins are all likely trade partners for starting pitching. At this point, I'm frustrated, but not without hope.
for another implies, he has already made one.

Just wake me up if and when the O’s do something. I made a mistake investing time and energy into thinking about who the O’s should and shouldn’t pursue and at what cost. It’s just been an exercise in frustration. Better to just await any moves and comment if and when they actually occur.
nothing will happen until ST and Elias standing with cheap 1 year deals, and whoever isnt inked yet, might take it, to keep working.

The Orioles could have inked him, if they had even tried.
Just goes along in my book, about what their true intentions are.

I predict the New York media will love Buck. Buck is full of quirky phrases and funny stories. I believe he will handle the job much better than his 1st go around with the Yankees. Sucks that Buck lost the Yankee job right before their talented young nucleus broke through.
That was all on the owner. Demanded Buck to fire his entire coaching staff. Buck refused as he didnt think it solve anything as they wasnt the reason they didnt get to the WS.
Got to respect Buck to stick to his guns, when he believes he was right.

Interesting that Atlanta has room for him.
1st is a base in short supply of people who can play the position.

My take on Trevor Bauer. Firstly, I am NOT condoning his behavior in any way. I wasn't there, I don't know what happened.
Obviously he was used as a "we protect women" banner for MLB. He was targeted and what they did to him, was unjust. His out-spoken attitude, against Manfred in social media, played a HUGE role in the "holier than thou" MLB and its treatment of him. When you literally show proof, against the charges, and this whole fiasco continued, you knew someone up above, ($$$) was pulling the strings.
All that said, I would sign Bauer in a heartbeat, but he would have to agree to a second year.
The talk of a media disaster is far too short sided. DeShaun Watson had over 30 complaints and what has happened to the Browns for it? Nothing. If the "game" didn't transcend the media, football would have been gone long ago.
2 year deal, means he wont be coming here.

You’re talking about Yusniel Diaz, who we got in the Manny trade. This is Lewin Diaz, who we acquired on waivers 2-3 weeks ago.
Geeze, thanks, sorry about that.
So this is Lewin, we hardly knew you.

And much ridicule as well... Yet the Atlanta Braves (a playoff team who many respect for how they identify and retain young talent) validated our waiver claim by giving us money for him.
I think some fans were just really sad/hurt to see Manny go.

He had so much hype, when he came here.

I mean, it's a theory.
If you sit back and do nothing, its pretty clear to just about everybody, that your main agenda probably isnt winning games.
They got an extra $30 million from Disney and spent $20 million so far. So they really arent changing how their ledger books are in the black or red.
For me, they did these minor deals and so they can then play the card, well, we tried, just couldnt get any of the better players to ink here.

I know you said 10 years, but fun fact, if you drop back to 2012, Cousins was the 4th round and 102nd overall draft pick that year.
Luck and RG3 went 1-2, Tannerhill went 8, Weeden went 22, Russell Wilson went 3 round and 75.

Watch out for falling iguanas in South Florida this Christmas. Seriously.
I get it, I have relatives in Florida and Ive heard about this, thought it was a urban legend at first lol

LOL - on this cold, rainy morning, I was thinking along those lines as well.
But the Orioles would benefit the most from that trade. Lopez AND Rogers is a coup for Mullins.
Weather channel says parts of Florida under freeze warnings this weekend lol

Mullins to Florida for Pablo Lopez AND Trevor Rogers. Which team benefits the most?
Mullins get to live in Florida and nicer weather.

So we’ve made 3 MLB additions and they are mostly lateral at best. But,
Odor (minimum) vs Frazier $8 million
McCann $2.5 Million vs Chirinos $700,000
Gibson $10 Million vs Lyles ($6 million plus the $1 million buyout)
Lyles signed with KC for 2 years $17 million guaranteed.
Not a clear distinction between the two. Some like Lyles better as he is 3 years young, some believe Gibson is better.

We got a Chirinos comp spending an additional 1.65 million per season and we are stuck with him for two years.
Would you have brought back Chirinos for 2.5 million?
They we’re nearly identical hitters and Chirinos had a DWAR of .5 versus -.1.
Can I take Option C , and neither of these two?

I think one person responding "meh" pretty much covers it. But, it's something to talk about in an off season that has only produced Gibson, Frazier, Givens and AAAA fodder.
Buckle up for blastoff LMBO

Pretty much everybody is expendable, if the ROI is right.

If the return was right yes. Can't be rolling the dice on international prospects or getting Vavra/Nevin level prospects.
So far, Bradish is all Elias has to show at the major league level from his trades of Bleier, Givens, Castro, Bundy and Iglesias. Vavra has a chance to play at the major league level if someone is willing to live with his defense at second base or he gets better in the OF, but Nevin is not a major leaguer no matter how long Elias keeps him on the 40-man roster.
Totally agree, if the return is right.
I know Mateo has a weak bat, but his super plus defense, speed, and ability to steal bases make him an attractive starting SS, unless you can find a 5 tool guy to replace him with.

Conine in 2006 comes to mind. Tejada came back for a year in 2010 (and was traded again), I’m struggling to think of anyone significant since then.
Tommy Hunter left in 2015 and came back in 2016, with stops in Chicago and Cleveland along the way. But didnt stick around for 2017

I agree that Harbaugh gets credit for that and he doesn't really build his teams anyways. I mean, he's part of the conversation of his 52-man roster, but it's not like he's going out and getting players.
I do think Harbaugh did a good job initially, but I also believe all leadership gets stale eventually.
I believe Ozzie did a better job of building the 52 man roster.
Of course, Ozzie had DeCosta to lean on to help him.
Johnny Cueto ….Would you do 2 years for $11 million per ?

People are trying to analysis Elias and that's not wrong.
However, the fans want to win and compete.
The moves that Elias is making, is baffling to us.
The team has money, and this is what they are doing.
Feels like a real life Major Leagues sequel in the making.
