Yep..need a high leverage reliever. Really needed it before and now you can argue you need 2 but really need one for sure imo.
Tyler Wells back to the pen full-time?

Where do you think his money comes from?
No matter what happens during his time running the Orioles, I doubt he'll ever have to clip coupons.

I'm not predicting that a top free agent is signed, but don't underestimate someone like John Angelos wanting to one up his father. Winning the world series would prove all his doubters wrong. He's just running the team. It's still his parents' money.

I'm not worried about Adley's conditioning, but more days off next year would be a good idea. He seemed to wear down occasionally.

Maybe you trade for EdRod and he pitches game one and everything changes?
Elias could have traded for players that would have increased the talent on the team and chose not to
EdRod rejected a trade to the Dodgers, does he accept one to the Orioles? I think Elias did try to trade, but the asking price was too high. I thought we overpaid for Flaherty.

They couldn't score because the Phillies starters dominated them. Suarez, Wheeler and Nola were nearly perfect in their approach and dominated one of the best lineups ever. As they say good pitching beats good hitting. The Phillies maintained their good pitching, but the Braves staff had a pretty lousy September, partly due to injuries, which carried into October. Only Strider looked pretty good against Philly.
The Phillies have played six games in ten days and used three starting pitchers. What would there record be if they played six games in 6 or 7 days and had the use the back end of the rotation? MLB really needs to cut down on the amount of off days during the post season.

So you’re assuming if Hicks saw the sign he would have gotten a hit?
I can dream, can't I? The is a crappy day for me. I'm at work surrounded by Phillies fans. My boss came to my office to gloat. So in my dreams Hicks gets the hit and we win game one. You are right that there was no guarantee that the hit & run works.

Better to lose this Way by being crushed than to lose like we did in 71 and 79.
so I am OK with it.
97 was depressing as well. We lost in six, but should have won five games & could have won all of them.

Hyde really didn't have a good series, especially the Baker decision, but I think we just hit by a hot team at the wrong time. However, I wish Hicks would have seen the hit & run sign. First and third in the ninth could have shaken up the series. Means being unavailable was the dagger I think. Means, Bradish, & Rodriguez should be an excellent top of the rotation, but I am worried how Bradish and Rodriguez bounce back from all the innings this season.
-
If Rodriguez throws right into the runner's back, does he get an interference call? It may have been the best choice.

Go back to two WC teams in a 1 game playoff a day after the regular season ends. Divisional round starts the next day. No days off during the divisional round. Five in a row if needed. I thought that last year as well. There is no need for all the off days during the post season. It just helps weaker teams with no depth.
-
I really don't understand how the hell Baker was even on the roster. Why Flaherty wasn't in the game makes no sense. He hasn't been great, but he's at least a major league pitcher.

This will never happen because of TV money, but go back to the old 1 game wild card playoff with only two wild cards. Next day start the ALDS . No days off. No travel days during the divisional series as well. Make teams set rosters for the entirety of the playoffs instead of each series. Teams can only make changes as they do during the season either option or IL. I thought that after last year's playoffs, not just because of the Orioles. The current system doesn't reward the better teams as it should.

Our new Magic number is 11. 3 +4+4 = World Champions
-
Do we still have local radio for playoffs and World Series?
-
How about 28 player rosters, but only 26 active for games, especially in September?

I don't think Francona was responsible for the poor fielding and pitching so far.

An Angelos only show their faces when the team is celebrating or enjoying a winning season. Never around to take responsibility during bad times, but always willing to be around to take "responsibility" for the good times.
I saw the same thing in 2014 when Peter Angelos came into the dugout during those celebrations. I was in those lockerooms and saw him for the first time in like ten years walking around shaking players hands. The players were gracious but I think half of them were like, "Who's this old guy?"
I was actually told by several players that was the first time they had ever seen him.
It's the Angelos way.
I don't like defending the Angelos family, but Peter Angelos was in the clubhouse after game 5 of the 2012 ALDS to console the players. It was on the MASN post-game show.

They do now..it wasn’t from the beginning.
But in general, pitching to contact isn’t a great way to pitch, especially when you have the stuff to not have to.
Tell that to Palmer.

It’s the difference between winning 5 consecutive series and losing 3 of their last 4 games.
Good teams don’t lose 3 of 4.
The 83 Orioles had two separate seven game losing streaks. They turned out ok.

McCann has flat out earned a lot of respect. Purely as a defensive catcher he can give AR lessons.
I think AR has been overworked especially earlier in the year which has caused some defensive problems. He needs more days off. No DH or PH.

I don't think he'll be up this season. That will be one less 40 man spot available during the off season.

That’s what I’m afraid of. First, the sh’t storm yesterday and now this loss. Just brutal.
The players couldn't care less about the Kevin Brown drama. I have no doubt that JA is thin skinned, but alot of the coverage yesterday was the media getting their two minutes hate against the Angelos family for past sins.

I usually go to Jimmy Johns before going to the park. Food is better and less expensive. Bring in snack foods and get free soda and water at the clubhouse for season ticket holders. I rarely buy food at the park. I don't like the lines or prices.

They postponed it one year in the 90s due to wind as I recall.
